As more and more mind-boggling revelations and discoveries continue to emerge, the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committees of Appropriation, yesterday, summoned the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, and her Budget and Planning counterpart, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, to appear before it and explain the reasons behind the 2016 proposed budget mess. Chairman of House Committee on Capital Markets and other institutions, Tajudeen Yusuf, who stated this after an interactive session with the Investment and Securities Tribunal (IST), complained that the 2016 budget proposal for IST was a duplicate of that of 2015. The lawmaker threatened that the National Assembly would also hold the Budget Office of the Federation responsible for various errors and padding observed in the document. “We took the budget of the IST, which is the investment court, unfortunately we realised what was contained in the 2016 proposal was just the exact copy of the 2015 appropriation; word for word and figure for figure,” he said. Similarly, the House of Representatives has rejected the budget document from the Ministry of Education as it was completely different from what President Muhammadu Buhari presented to the National Assembly. According to the Chairman of the House Committee on Basic Education, Zakari Mohammed (APC, Kwara), as a result of the discrepancies, the committee has discontinued the consideration of the defence of monies proposed for the Federal Ministry of Education and its agencies, including Universal Basic Education, over 30 federal universities, Colleges of Education, among others. http://www.thescoopng.com/senate-reps-summon-adeosun-udoma-explanations-budget-stench-worsens/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |

Similarly, the House of Representatives has rejected the budget document from the Ministry of Education as it was completely different from what President Muhammadu Buhari presented to the National Assembly. This is like a joke budget, still waiting for the purported "Budget of Change" not this Budget of gargantuan corruption. 1 Like |
