Scriptural Abuse By Christians? Touch Not My Anointed And Others by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 4:05pm On Jul 09, 2009 |
Good day nairalanders I have tried in several posts on Nairaland regarding some core questions on christian religion that need clear-cut answers from our numerous posters who continually use the following lines to evade or conclude without even giving you some insight as to the basis of their conclusion
[li]Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm - Psalms 105:15 Nairaland Search Results = 112[/li] [li]Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged - Matt. 7:1 Nairaland Search Results = 1,410[/li]
The second verse is sometimes used in a completely misleading fashion as you will often here it this way . Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged! and Let He Who is Without Sin Cast the First Stone I must confess. I am deeply hurt by the fact that every Christian on Nairaland who has used either of the above verses have done so as a veiled THREAT and in defense of a Christian Leader whose ACCOUNTABILITY has been called to question in the face of unarguable facts. They continually use small-vision tactics, by excluding almost 80% of what is presented and using the fact that it is in the Bible to build their conclusions TOUCH NOT MY ANOINTED So for Clarification Purposes here is the full Chapter The LORD’S Wonderful Works in Behalf of Israel. 1 Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples. 2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders. 3 Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad. 4 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. 5 Remember His wonders which He has done, His marvels and the judgments uttered by His mouth, 6 O seed of Abraham, His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones! 7 He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. 8 He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations, 9 The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac. 10 Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, 11 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion of your inheritance,” 12 When they were only a few men in number, Very few, and strangers in it. 13 And they wandered about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people. 14 He permitted no man to oppress them, And He reproved kings for their sakes: 15 “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” 16 And He called for a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread. this text continues up-till verse 45 (excluded but you can read it up yourself here http://biblebrowser.com/psalms/105-1.htm) The second phrase is JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED Judging Others 1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 “For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. 6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. Let us now clarify the issue of Anointing as in the scriptures. What does it mean to be anointed in the Old Testament In the OT (Old Testament) the Bible teaches that the Children of God (Israel) were God's anointed flock. it also classifies three groups that God sets apart for his work in the old days, Priests, prophets, and kings who were anointed with Olive oil. These ones are called of God and when God calls you, He equips you for the work at hand, he does not look for the equipped before calling them. People please take note There are three types of Anointing for people: Sacred, medical and ordinary.
[li]The Prophet Isaiah writes 10:27, “. . . the yoke of the evil onewill be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” [/li] [li]You can anoint yourself by taking some oil and place a small amount on your forehead and claim YAHWEH’S promise of HIS strength (Ps.92:10). [/li] [li]The Apostle John writes in 1 John 2:27, that anointing refers to a Sacred spiritual process in which the Holy Spirit empowers a persons heart and mind with YAHWEH’S truth and love. [/li]
In the NT (New Testament) Jesus Christ The Messiah, died in order that we may have the same anointing by the Holy Spirit. You can pray to receive or fall under the Anointing every day before you go to work just as your Pastor can receive God's Anointing to pastor his flock on Sunday or any other day that is deemed for worship. Let us look at Anointing in the NT so were are sure what we are talking about Matt.6.17 - But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, Mark.6.13 - And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them. Mark.14.8 - She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial. Mark.16.1 - When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. Luke.4.18 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, Luke.7.38 - and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. John.9.6 - Having said these things, he spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man’s eyes with the mud Acts.4.26 - The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’— Acts.4.27 - for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, Acts.10.38 - how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 2Cor.1.21 - And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, Heb.1.9 - You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.” Jas.5.14 - Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 1John.2.20 - But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. 1John.2.27 - But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything—and is true and is no lie, just as it has taught you—abide in him. Further research reading here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anointing Therefore the term "anointing" means to "authorize, or set apart, a person for a particular work or service," (Is.61:1). The New Testament is absolutely clear on whom the anointing rests - ALL of Christ's disciples, who are God's very own, set apart and commissioned for service (2 Cor. 1:21). The New Testament does not support the notion of a greater anointing based on position With regards to Judging Christian Leadership I have these verses 1Cor. 6:2-3 Do you not know that the saints [the saved; Christians] will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! Prov. 3:21 My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Jer. 22:3 Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, Phil. 1:10 so that you may be able to discern [judge] what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, My Submission starts here.
[li]Christians must recognize the meaning of an anointed one (OT and NT) and that the verse they so flippantly froth out is in their minds ill-conceived and ill-delivered and fraught with hidden intentions[/li] [li]The verse in particular was recounting the journey to and out of Egypt to the promise land and the trials they faced among surrounding enemies NOT Christian leadership[/li] [li]We must Judge with discernment and wisdom the misdeeds of others knowing that we must do this without bias and ill-intent[/li] [li]Christians who cannot cleanup their own house risk complete shame, humiliation and utter destruction like Saul (Anointed of God by Samuel)[/li] [li]Christians must realize the the life of Christianity is based on Trust (Faith) and that by blindly following teachings without questioning can allow that trust to be exploited[/li]
I Thank you |

Yes, tell those christian goons who hero worship their pastors, bishops and G.O's. To them they are above criticisms and can do no wrong. |

@lagerwhenindoubt, Nice work. This article was needed in this forum because a whole lot of supposed Christians have their understanding of the judging and anointed concepts upside down and use them wrongly. |

How did i miss this topic b4? Nice work largerwhenindoubt as ttalks said this post was really needed on this forum. But the problem is our pastor worshippers never accept what the bible says except their pastor's interpretation of it. |

No one ever said no one can do no wrong, cos they are human too, however, any without sin could cast the first stone. Also, better to always leave judgement to God |

nuella2: People twisting the glorious gospel of the Kingdom of God which leads to salvation of man are my problem. That aside it is not my comission to kill people that say there is no God or unbelievers, i would leave that to the Jihadists |
Re: Scriptural Abuse By Christians? Touch Not My Anointed And Others by nuella2(f): 4:55pm On Mar 08, 2010 |
KunleOshob:The way to God is to believe in Jesus, has any christian said is through him or her? Anytime you dont agree with someone, then that person is fake and has twisted scripture. Every christian must think like you and see as the way you see. Who called you into that ministry? If is not your way then is wrong. I agree the body of christ is not yet mature, we are growing and will get there by the help of the holy spirit. |

@poster i must admit that i have learnt a lot by your insightful comments and i am posting it this minute to a christian brother,i guess our warped or incorrect understanding of these pertinent scriptures have allowed things to degenerate to this level. i have always personally made it a point of duty to respect but never deify any man or woman of GOD,the funny thing is that most of these people do not ascribe this dubious understanding of the bible unto themselves but the "holy police" who surround them, my elder brother and his wife were opportuned to go to pastor adeboye's house on the camp ground and met him,and he came away with an impression of a laid back and humble man and woman of GOD,pastor mrs adeboye gave them a pack of ginger beer and while talking about it a friend of mine had the effontery to say he totally disbelieved them that a whole pastor mrs cannot give anybody ginger beer |

GODSON2009: I believe that a pastor mrs can give somebody ginger beer, but if we were talking about a Chief pastor mrs then I wouldn't believe it. I would believe it even less if we were talking about a Chief Engr Pastor Mrs (cantab). |

Pastor AIO:i dont get it?? Joagbaje:exactly my point,my said friend didnt even bother to find out if ginger beer was alcoholic or non alcoholic but because it involved pastor mrs adeboye,he has almost ascribed the position of a pristine human being who can never have any blot of sin |
