The privatisation of the power sector hoping to bring succour to Nigeria need to be checked. Kaduna Electric Distribution Company attitude to staff welfare needs to be checked. The problems are many and we call on the President and the Minister,Babatunde Fashola to come to their aid.

1. Staff are grossly underpaid and currently they are the poorest paying distribution company and the second after them pays 100% above what the are paying their staff

2. Safety is a mirage. NERC needs to look into this. It is on record that the safety kids provider by the management for the entire engineering team per feeder consisting of about 12 engineers and linesmen is just 2 set. Meaning the rest 10 are on their won

3. Management will tell you sacrifice and cannot provide working tools for the staff. Staff spend their money for tools

4. Vehicles are in bad shape. No funding for fueling and maintenance. There are a lot of cases of fuel getting finished in vehicles and staff have to gather money to buy fuel and as well maintain it

5. Maintenance jobs requiring any form of expenditures must never be brought up.

6. Sales Officers are treated in a way whereby they spend their personal money on doing their jobs. No transport allowance as they spend their salaries on transport to follow up on customers

7. A typical Kaduna Electricity company lacks basics office amenities. Staff spend personal money on typing, photocopying, scanning etc even for sacred official document

8. A typical office is in a bad state. Pay visits to their offices are confirm this.

9.In this century, reports are still handwritten

10. Management lacks in idea from the Human Resources downward

11. Salary are delayed without any explanation from the management

12. No insurance or medical policies in place. Staff are on their own medically even on the job

13. Basic first aids kits are lacking in their centres

14. Many transformers and feeder pillars are in bad state

15. Propagandas are on the highest. For example a company that told the world that they have acquired 1500 motorcycles for the company covering Kaduna,Sokoto,Kebbi and Zamfara and yet they claim to give 2000 motorcycles to Kebbi alone; poor treatment of their inherited casual staff,etc

16. No new infrastructure at all since taking over

17. Investors don't have the fundings and solely depends on the hiking of tariffs for survival

18. No training for staff. Just a week induction programme and the staff sent out to work

19. No incentives for staff

They are numerous but we call on PMB and BRF to save us.
