For Their Father’s Death, South African Minors Sue T. B. Joshua by MAYOWAAK: 12:24pm On Feb 24, 2016
Nearly 20 months after a six-storey building collapsed within the premises of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), two South African minors, Bulungu Malaika Wa Kalambaie (three years) and Nora Furah Wa Kalambaie (six years) have approached a Lagos High Court, Igbosere asking for an order directing Prophet Temitope Joshua to pay them the sum of R8,772,000.00 , (N114,765,587.00) as cost and damages for the death of their father.

The building collapsed on September 12, 2014, killing over a hundred people, mostly foreigners.

Specifically, the claimants’ mother, Amina Busseh Bashi, a citizen of Democratic Republic of Congo, through their lawyer, Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), asked the court to order Pastor Joshua, the registered trustees of the church, Jadny Trust Limited, Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company, Oladele Ogundeji and Akinbela Fatiregun to pay the sum of R10,000,000.00 (N130,831,722.00) as damages for loss of earnings and support they have missed due to the death of their father. They are already currently facing charges of involuntary manslaughter before an Ikeja High Court.

They claim that their father died due to the negligent acts of the church and Prophet Joshua. They are also asking the court to direct the defendants to pay the claimants the sum of N30 million, being the legal cost and solicitors fee incurred by the claimants in prosecuting the action.

Also sued are: Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Lagos state Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The claimants are asking the court for an order, declaring that Joshua and his church were negligent in their duties in failing to ensure that lives and properties of persons that come within their domain are safe and secure, and are consequently bound to bear their cost of living from September 12, 2014 to September 11, 2049 when the deceased husband was meant to reach the age of 70 and would naturally be unable to financially cater for them.

The defendants in the suit are yet to file any processes in court and the matter has not been assigned to any judge.

How come out of all the families that were affected by this tragic incident this one has gone to such lengths? I'm sure TB Joshua is taking good care of the families; I mean, he just donated 5N million to the man who's wife was shot by police last year. Look at this article: http://www.nigerianeye.com/2016/02/tb-joshua-donates-n5-million-to-man.html
