A new report indicates the rumored Mercedes E Class All Terrain is scheduled for an official launch as early as this October.

It’s the second time we are hearing Mercedes is working on a competitor for the Audi A6 allroad and according toAutocar the model will be launched together with the regular E Class Estate in October. This means we will see both of them at the Paris Motor Show that month or even a little bit earlier online.

The E Class All Terrain (name not confirmed) will come as standard with an all-wheel-drive 4MATIC system and a jacked up suspension to better tackle the off road. Stylistically, it won’t be that much different than the regular E Class Estate, but it’s bound to receive some plastic body cladding, more rugged front and rear bumpers, bespoke wheels, and other minor tweaks. The interior will also have different upholstery and unique trim to differentiate this version even further from its road-oriented sibling.

Under the hood it will get the same array of turbocharged four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines like the standard E Class Estate. Later during the life cycle of both models, Mercedes will launch a plug-in hybrid variant that will mix up a turbodiesel engine with an electric motor for superior fuel economy.
