APC alleges Gov Wike’s past fraudulent activities far out outweighs the $2.1 Dasukigate scandal

The Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has roped Governor Nyesom Wike in a monumental fraud allegedly committed when the governor was the minister of Education.

The party in a statement by the APC state chairman, Davis Ikanya in Port Harcourt yesterday February 24, claims the financial fraud carried out by Wike when he was minster for Education far outweighs the current $2.1 billion arms deal scandal by former national security adviser, (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

According to Daily Post, the party based its allegations against Wike on a report of the Peoples Coalition Against Corruption, (PCAC) which alleged that Wike diverted funds from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for private use, swindled the Universal Basic Education Fund of more than N100bn, and also mismanaged over N20 billion of the ministry of education budgets in the four years that he was in charge of the Ministry of Education.
The APC said based on the report of PCAC, the alleged fraud committed by Wike in the past “will make Dasukigate look like a child’s play when the full details are made known”.
According to the party, Wike’s alleged corrupt acts could as a matter of fact be termed Wikegate.
It urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the relevant agencies to launch
“a full-scale investigation into Wike’s fraudulent activities as a minster and now as a governor with a view to recovery public funds lost in the process”.

It said: “Rivers APC also calls for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the staff of NDDC that aided Wike in his looting spree, Rivers State Government, CICO, RCC, as well as the bank officials that colluded to swindle Rivers State and Nigeria,”
“As we commend and congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari for his drive to eradicate or reduce corruption to the barest level possible in our nation’s polity, we wish to encourage him not to relent no matter the odds and the efforts of corrupt Nigerians to fight it back. We totally agree with him that if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill us as a nation.”
Meanwhile, the APC in Ekiti state has urged the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase to prosecute Governor Ayo Fayose.
In a petition signed by Olajide Awe, its state party chairman, APC also called on Arase to investigate the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Bala Nasarawa, former Ekiti Mobile Police (MOPOL) Commander, Gabriel Selenkere and other officers named in the alleged criminal manipulation of the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state.
