Mr. Chukwuemeka Elihe Onwuliri, son of former Foreign Affairs Minister,
Lady Viola Onwuliri, has denied beating and locking up his wife but rather
offered to help her over mental illness she is allegedly suffering.
Onwuliri, in an email to Pointblanknews.com said contrary to reports of
his beating his wife, Christina, his family has been more concerned to see
how they can save the children from the violent display from his wife who
has threatened severally to kill them.
He alleged that her mental illness which was not made known to him and his
family before their marriage is reason why he decided to bring her back
from Canada.
His email to pointblanknews.comreads:
Kristina Onwuliri (nee Amaefule) is mentally ill and we were not told
before the marriage of the psychological problems that she had.
Some actions she has taken are:
1. Grabbing the car steering wheel and swerving it on the Highway in
Canada while I was driving almost killing us instantly
2. throwing a heavy statue of Infant Jesus at me, breaking the statue in
the process and throwing a sharp knife at me, later threatening to still
stab me in my sleep and poison me
3. putting a knife to my child’s neck to kill her
4. Preparing acid to pour on me – with bleach, hot water, etc, I called
the canadian police and it took them several minutes to finally agree to
enter the house because they were scared she would pour it on them. They
entered the house and saw the hot water boiling, the bleach beside it and
they called her out and she confessed. After that she started pushing to
come to Nigeria even after I had booked a 6months training course in
Canada for her to work as a Medical assistant which she rejected after
attending class for one day.
She switches from calm to very violent in an instant, especially at night
and can get very violent and would deny it later as if she was sleep
walking when she performed all the actions. It got to a point I could not
sleep at night until she slept.
I have tried to help her but she has rejected all help for fear of being
tagged a psycho patient. I had to take action and remove the kids while
she was vehemently destroying my Fathers house on 3rd February 2016 from
inside the room and then went downstairs to break more windows wounding my
cousin in the process after which she left on her own. All witnesses there
that day concluded that this girl can kill easily. We have all stayed away
to protect lives and she has resorted to lies to social and print media to
all to cause confusion. We have also made 4 attempts to return her
documents and her luggage to her with her and her Father refusing them
each time.
It was only last year, that I found out that her brother, Kris Amaefule
(Kolia) had called the police for her more than 20 times because he felt
his life was threatened. All those calls happened even before I met her.
She has had this problem and it is extremely difficult
My concern is to protect the children because she has said she will kill
them. We are doing our best to get everything right, to help her also, and
we request the prayers of all.
