Serious Bug Crashes Apple Iphones - Permenently by gentle007(m): 9:09am On Feb 28, 2016
A serious bug has been uncovered in the latest iPhone software that has the ability to crash the device permanently.

Unlike most bugs, this one is deceptively easy to enable -- all the user has to do is reset the calendar to the 1st January 1970, and then turn off the phone.

It wont switch back on.

Apple is reported to be investigating the bug as a matter of urgency, as the only fix is to take the handset to an Apple store for repair.

The bug apparently affects all 64-bit devices running iOS 8 or newer, including the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air and the iPad mini 2.

The cause of the bug is still unknown, but it is likely that the as 1st January 1970 is the base date for Unix systems, resetting the date to what is essentially, zero, confuses the rest of the phone software which would be looking for a positive number.
