After removing these ghost workers will u create jobs for them? Anyways nice step

Its obvious u don't get it. A "Ghost worker" is just a term given to some sort of persons who do not physically exist but they tend to have monthly payment straight to a civil servant's account.

One civil servant can control 5 to 10 ghost worker account payment.

If such practices is removed such civil servant will now only have one source of pay monthly.

I know about it, a MD friend of mine told me about her name was used to siphon money at LASUTH when she was no more there.
I know the details. that's one of the hidden reasons MDs don't want non-MDs to head top Hospital admin. positions, to keep their secrets. Some junior MDs know but...

But can't talk abi So that they don't get fired!!

That MD friend of yours too ought to have reported such practices to the relevant authorities to atleast safe the excess flow of cash to wrong destination and also to allow that position to be vacant, so that another MD in need of job can fill that space.

Sure it will. All agencies and directorates have been ordered to collate vacancies from them to be submitted to ministry of labour and productivity.

NAFDAC alone submitted about 34,000 vacancies!! By 2017 formal and legitimate job recruitment single handedly handled by FG will kick start.

Yes, the ineffectual buffoon introduced BVN but did not have the courage to implement it to the letters because the ghost workers are his siblings.

Why are you ranting and full of bitterness Registration of BVN was still on when power changed hand. You wanted him to implement it from Otuke

"He said the federal government was also
pursuing the recovery of salary balances in
bank accounts as well as any pension
contributions in respect of the workers whose
names have since been removed from the
payrolls."

Finally someone is paying attention to details. In the past nobody will even think along this line that some pension would also have accrued with respect to the ghost names either due to ignorance or deliberately.
Either it is GEJ or PMB's policy it doesn't really matter all I can see is a govt in continuum,I want to blv the headroom would provide employment for those who need the job .

Only a crook will hate this move. Even if they cannot rid all the ghost workers 100%, they will at least getting rid of about 98% and when its done, its at least more harder than before.

The goal of any measure is not to be 100% perfect but at least be difficult enough. Now you need the cooperation of the banks to do put ghost worker in the system unlike before, all you need to do is just come up with a name and a title

Does not matter who initiated the BVN move, but at least we can see its benefits.

Good move.

When huge sums of money and some "heavy weights" in the field are involved, It can be a matter of life and death not just sacking. it happened at the time when "stealing was not corruption" and of course its been happening.
when she was a house officer, the salary and packages she was earning was retained after she went for NYSC. As if she was still there and somebody was collecting it. She found out when she returned to apply for medical officer position and and to start her residency. The accumulated funds was not for her. She had to ignore it,she wasn't accepted at first so she picked up a job at a private hospital for some months before she was taken to start her residency.
Now, how many of such names that have left their employment are retained yrly and for how long has it be going on? that will tell you how the system is being drained and covered up all over the country.

if he starts to prosecute them now, I very sure u ppl will be the set of ppl to say witch hunting.

Provided the proper legal procedure is followed and the principle of fair hearing with a neutral judge is adhered to fully, there is nothing like witch hunting. It becomes that when a competent court discharges a person unconditionally and the President insists that a person is guilty due to his personal conviction, it becomes witch-hunting when security agencies swoop down and arrest a person without any credible case and then seeks to detain such a person interminably eg El-Zakzaki and Colonel Hussein. It is witch-hunting when concentration is on an identifiable sect or group of people when the offence being prosecuted is a wide-spread one that is not in any way limited to the people that have been turned scapegoats for any reason.

Nobody has said there is a problem with tackling corruption, such issues only arise when the above and many other colourations are obviously identifiable in the course of prosecution. Next time, actually be sure of the mindset of the person u are referring to before attempting to paint everyone with the same brush due to preconceived lies, bias and ideas which u have accepted as your truth.

Not really. If lets say 5 people works in a department but they claim its 8 and were collecting salary for 3 ghost workers. after the 3 has been weeded out, why would u hire more?

Job is already being done with 5 with no issue. Hiring more is just redundant

Thank you Sanusi for bringing about the BVN despite all odds and thank you Kemi for using such a tool to effectively clean the mess that has always being around and someone never saw it despite the BVN being there for awhile. The norm of stealing in the public service is gradually eroded .
