APPLY FOR YOUR AD HERE COMPETITION

Are you an artist? Will you like to create artwork that will be fabricated and installed on a billboard?



Artists in Nigeria, at all stages of their careers, are invited to enter the Your Ad Here Open Call, to propose a new artwork that represents daily life in Lagos or Abuja. Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply including fine artists, photographers and designers.

The best entries will be selected by a panel, with one overall winner’s work fabricated and installed as an outdoor billboard in Lagos. Up to 20 runners up will be exhibited in Lagos at A Whitespace and online.


Submission process
1) CHOOSE A SUBJECT

Select an organisation, business or place that inspires you and that you feel reflects the life of your city. It could be a shop, café, restaurant, cultural centre or an individual that particularly captures what you think is important about creativity in Lagos or Abuja. Bear in mind they will need to sign a form agreeing to their involvement, so you should speak to them before you begin work.

2) SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY

Please email a jpeg (no bigger than two megabytes) of your image along with 500 words (as a word document) explaining why your image is important to you to uknigeria@britishcouncil.org with the subject line “Your Ad Here” by 1 March 2016.

If your idea is selected, your subject will need to sign a form saying they are happy with the image before your work is fabricated.

After submission
3) JUDGING

The selection panel will include representatives from A Whitespace Creative Agency, Create Lagos, and the British Council. We will be looking for engaging work that reflects Nigeria’s vibrancy and diversity.

4) SELECTED ARTISTS

If selected as a winner or runner up, you will be notified by15 March 2016 and you will be asked to provide a signed business agreement form by 18 March 2016, and complete your final artwork by 23 March 2016.

Prize
5) SPECIFICATIONS

The dimensions of the final artwork will be approximately 5m x 15m (landscape). Exact specifications will be sent to successful artists once they are selected. The Artwork will need to be supplied in digital format at 50% of the final size in PDF, PSD, PSB or CDR formats.

Please note: We cannot accommodate logos anywhere in the artworks for either the business or the artists.

6) FEES AND COPYRIGHT

The winning artist will be given 150,000 NGN. Artists will retain copyright of their artworks, but will be asked to sign a usage agreement for the artwork to be displayed and used for promotional and marketing purposes in relation to Your Ad Here (including press and online use).
