How do you call the wealth of the Igbos questionable when they obviously do not have any connection with the Government as such.

lol.

I think you have got it wrong.

Almost all the people on that forbes list have an attachment to various governments either present or past.

Tribe has nothing to do with it. Forbes is not a nigerian outfit that accommodates sentiments nor do people pay to get listed.
That one has no attachment to government does not make one's wealth legit neither does the attachment make someone's wealth illegitimate.

The Igbos prefer that 100 people have 1 million each, than two men having 50 million each.
Thats why they are better off without Nigeria.
One Igbo man goes home, picks up a boy, teaches him business, settles him in six years and the boy starts his own business. In two years, he goes home and picks up more boys.
All them boys in Alaba and Trade fair did not just jump into a bus and come to Lagos.

somehow, their businesses are not so big. However, I notice that the Ibos have a better distribution of wealth than any other part of Nigeria.

Poverty in the east is not as severe as poverty in other regions. The Ibos have a hustling grace that moves them out of poverty line readily.

WELL SAID..NO MATTER WHICH TRIBES MAKES IT TO THE TOP THE IMPORTANT THING IS HE IS A NIGERIAN.TALK ABOUT TRIBALISM AND FILTHY RICHES, THE RICHEST NIGERIAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NIGER DELTAN.

I don't know about other biafrans and how much they are worth.

But, ifeanyi uba recently staked his N500billion worth just to do a work for FGN.

If it is true about his worth, then, he should be $2.5billion @ official CBN rate of 199 per dollar.

And I know ifeanyi uba is not amongst the 10 richest biafrans.

Let's just say, igbos just like their money and investments the way it is.
If you believe Ubah is worth $2.5bill, you can believe anything!

I didn't say he has 500b in assets, I dount the man is worth more than $200m net from legitimate operations, he is the one who said he has 500b in assets. What he didnt tell you is how much he is owing the banks (or Maduka or Amcon). Like i said people with real money dont brag about it. Dangote, Otedola, dont drive around in a convoy and police escorts, Fashola didnt go around blowing his siren because he knows he is the governor, you will find that it is the guy who was appointed special assistant to the governor (not even special adviser) that you will find with a convoy and siren in traffic. So next time you see someone in traffic blowing his siren in a convoy of vehicles, you know this is someone without REAL money or real power. Real money and real power has no need to brag. I can stake my life on it that Ifeanyi Ubah isn't worth anywhere near N500b he claims because when you get to that level of wealth you dont brag about it. A beautiful woman doesn't brag about her beauty because she knows she is beautiful. it's a classic mistake people make, the more you feel the need to shout/brag the less you really have or at the very least the more you tell the world about your insecurities.

Where is Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu, Cosmas Maduka? These Forbes people are just plain lazy.

Elumelu and Ovia's wealth are mainly due to portfolio investments and when the stock market crashes, so does your wealth. Maduka (a man I greatly admire) said himself in an interview, though he may just have been modest, that he is a small boy next to Adenuga, implying though he is no doubt a very wealthy man, his wealth is more likely in the hundreds of millions

Three out of top four is no joke. That is 75% by a subgroup of a bigger ethnic group in a country of over 100 ethnic groups lool. If they were to increase the number to 10 - I know at least 2-3 Ijebu folks who will make the list. Talking about numbers. On average, which group of people have the highest number of millionaires in Nigeria?. It's not about having one man on Forbes list and 20 million men on the Ojuelegba/Obalende agbero list.
What makes a people rich is the spread.

The same group with three out of the top four should have the highest number of millionaires. You know Igbos are noise makers when you look at the whole of Igboland which is the same size as Ibadan, and with the huge population of Igbos - yet Igboland is the least developed in the whole country.

In a proper organised setting - you don't need gazillion of roadside traders who barely make profits despite risking their lives to sell their wares. All you need is a few billionaires to create millions of jobs and also a conducive environment for organised SMEs to thrive. And that is one thing Yorubas have mastered - not the unorganised/primitive nuisance Igbos create everywhere in the name of trading.

If you go and look Okija list, you go see dem dem there. On a serious note if you pick 10 Igbos and 10 Yorubas, you would pick 8 self reliant Igbos and maybe pick 6 from Yorubas.Igbos are satisfied with trading and they are largely employed while Yorubas are mostly professionals and artisans.Igbos made most of their money in Nigeria especially Lagos and do not really have billionaires outside Nigeria unlike the Yorubas who have chunks of billionaires outside Nigeria because their bizmen and women are always going for the biggest pies in the world. The truth is Yorubas have more billionaires than Igbos both home and abroad(we are not talking of secret billionaires o.every tribe has them because their monies are not mostly clean)

The fact that the names look funny only indicate that you are not in the loop. What exactly was Alakija's hustle? She did the dirty and BAM she has an oil block.
All ya recognised lists are bollocks in the Nigerian context. The real heavy rollers don't want their names in the news because the government is all powerful and can use political power to grind them to powder. That is why dangote backs both APC and PDP; Buhari can make him a pauper.

Loool. Grasping at straws are we?

I deal with facts not noise making, jejune tales, and fables - cos real money doesn't make noise. Forbes is an internationally recognised publication that deals with facts and looking at the Mount Rushmore on Forbes - I can see three Ijebus/Yorubas up there lool. That paints a perfect picture.

Well, those names look like Northern names and I'm sure they all have oil blocs like Alakija. How come none of them is on the list? Is it a case of lacking the requisite IQ to turn money into wealth? Once you are like that, then you can't be on the list.

Also, don't count people's money - let investment and wealth do the talking cos a lot of these folks are worthless when it comes to investment and proper business, hence their money never grows. Respect the real business folks flipping that money.

Entrepreneur are in the business of creating something new. An entrepreneur invest in ideas and bring them to reality. The success of entrepreneur is its ability to diversify. Example. If oil didn't pay real estate will do.

businessman is someone that brings new products to market for buyers and find innovative ways to maximize the value for his investors as well as the customers. This person may not always create the products but provides value by profitably marketing these to customers. Example : without new innovation to the market he will continue depending on old ones.

Interesting how no Igbo Man ever makes the Forbes list.

grin

Anyone care to explain why?

YES I CAN.
BUT LET ME START BY SAYING SORRY IGBO, I NO MEANT TO INSULT.

1-MAJORITY OF IGBO BUSINESS TYCONS, OR BIG MARKETERS NO GO SCHOOL. SO BEFORE SOME ONE CAN KNOW HOW MUCH HE HAVES AS A BIG BUSINESS MAN, THATS NEED A BIG CALCULATIONS.

2-IGBO PEOPLE DONT INVEST IN NIGERIA OR ANY COUNTRY BY BUILDING A FACTORIES.

3- 70-90% OF OUR IGBO BUSINESS MEN IMPORT GOODS IN THIS COUNTRY.

4-IGBO ALWAYS LOOKING FOR CHEAPEST PRODUCT TO IMPORT NO CONSIDERING IT QUALITY, ALL THEY WANT IS LARGE PROFIT.

NB: WE HAVE MANY IGBOS AND HAUSAS BUSINESS MEN THAT CAN ENTER THE FORBE LIST IN TERMS OF MONEY. BUT DUE TO THEY DONT HAVE COMPANIES AND ENGAGED THEM SELF IN IMPORTATION. THEY CANT GO THROUGH DAT LIST.

EXAMPLE OF HAUSA PEOPLE I KNOW ARE
1-DAHIRU USMAN MANGAL, FROM KATSINA, HES A CHAIRMAN OF MAX AIR AND AFDIN CONSTRUCTION CONFANY.
2.AMINU DANTATA. CEO DANTATA AND SAWOE AND OTHERS.

NIGERIANS A RICH ONLY THAT WE DONT LIKE PRODUCTION. WE ONLY LIKE IMPORTING.

Truth is bitter, girl. The hard truth is bitter. If you people don't want to hear the truth, don't mention Ms. Alakija any time Nigerian billionaires are being discussed. If you do, you are guaranteed the same reaction from me. FYI my mom is way lot better than Ms. Alakija. So I would not like my mom to be like her. You cannot buy dignity and respect.
The lady herself knows the truth and wants to be left alone. It's ethnic bigots like you that pull her name out. I can tell you she does not want to be mentioned.
You sound way more pathetic than me. We can only fight corruption in Nigeria by shinning a magnifying glass on the way things used to be. This country must move forward. I am a proud Nigerian, not an ethnic bigot. Do you see me we question the wealth of people like Fola Adeola or Oba Otudeko. Check yourself girl. You may be "co*ck sucking" your way to millions very soon with that attitude.
