Christian Chukwu believes that the solution to the problems of the Super Eagles goes beyond the hiring of a foreign coach for the team.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, said in the USA that the federation would henceforth work with foreign coaches for the Eagles after the resignation of Sunday Oliseh last week.

But former Nigeria international, Chukwu, told our correspondent that the Eagles have more problems to contend with than that of a foreign coach, adding that there were enough coaches in the country, who could do the same job as a foreign coach.

“If the NFF wants to hire a foreign coach they can do so since they are the ones who will pay for his services. But I think a foreign coach is not the solution to the problems of the Eagles,” the former Nigeria captain said.

“The Eagles need a coach who knows the Nigerian terrain to handle the team and not a coach who will be working mostly from outside the country. There are many competent coaches here in the country who will do the same job a foreign coach will do. Only few world-class coaches can cope with the peculiar nature of the Nigerian structure.

“The basic solution to the team’s problem is to have a long-term plan which will enable any coach hired to work on the successes and failures of the team as well as improving their performance. The problem is that we are not patient enough with coaches and we sack them after a bad time.

“If the foreign coach comes and he didn’t do well, he will still be sacked. So why not look at a long-term solution rather than a short-term one, which I think the hiring of a foreigner is.”

because if you look at the problems all our coaches complain of is almost the same thing

how do you want this men to perform when thier families depend on them and in extention on thier salaries

NFF should think of having a way of paying promptly if they cant pay upfront.
to bring a foregn coach is to disgrace us openly to the world when we cant pay him

except the third class coaches they want from Serbia who will only take the job to bust thier C.V. and then still walk away when we cant pay
