The passengers hardly had the opportunity to escape because of the sardine packaging of the commuters. Time after time, the same safety issue yet no will to resolve it.

Just read most of the comments here and am just shocked and dumbfounded at the selfishness exhibited by over-religious
folks who want God to do everything for them including wearing them their own clothes or wash deir dirty dishes sad ..lazy mentality... undecided

Nigerians are roasted on our roads every week...and sum pips keep typing "RIP" or "let it not happen to me IJN" instead of thinking...
how has 'RIP' stopped people from dying on our roads..?

Wen are we going to be proactive and insist that d right tins sud b done in our country?....why are we so greedy,self-centered and
nonchalant in our attitude....and yet we want tins to miraculously start working or get better in our society?

This is not the first time that humans like will be burnt and roasted like a toasted duck, and its certainly not going to be the last
if we don't make an effort on our own to speak out instead of the regular but stale "RIP".....

why can't start by insisting dat drivers be careful wen driving........

Most of the fatal accidents on our roads are as a result of over speeding and total negligence of simple traffic rules by road users...

furthermore,we must use the social media like twitter or facebook to pressure the various authorities to be alive to their responsibilities to curb these incessant but avoidable carnage on our roads....Enough of dese RIPs....! angry angry

i feel nothing but pity for the families of the dead..What a loss! cry cry cry

God won't. Nigerians have to help themselves. Traffic safety and POV operation is a very simple thing to master. Nigerians don't take anything related to motoring seriously and worse is they don't know anything about it. They think they do, but they don't. As evidenced by the high rate of casualties on a regular basis. They think it's all about buying a car, registering it and driving away. It is more complicated than that. In Germany on the autobahn, you can practically drive at whatever speeds you want and in all my years that I worked and lived there, i never saw one accident. Not one. Think about that.

You're right and moreover that road should be a dual lane or the bushes around the road be reduced like that of ilesha-ibadan express way.

You are also right. But, it goes deeper than that. The whole orientation about operating a POV of the average Nigerian must and should be revised. Driving is not a right but a privilege that can be taken away at any time. Nigerians think it is a right and therefore shoulder no responsibility when operating a vehicle. In Germany/England/U.S for example, the long term ramifications for an offence for, lets say a DUI, is almost unquantifiable. In Nigeria, it is business as usual. Things need to change.

You're correct bro, I chatted with my brother in Dresden sometimes last week, and he said he has not heard or seen any accident scene for the past three years he has been living there. So many things are not done right in Nigeria.
