Forget French Embrace Spanish: Why Spanish Is Far Better Than French by billchucks(m): 10:13pm On Mar 09, 2016
Having had over ten years’ experience: 10yrs. in
speaking Spanish and five
years in teaching it in Port Harcourt Rivers State, I have
been confronted
with the question which is actually better.
Hence, the reason for writing this article.

*Spanish Trumps French as Messi is Better than
Thierry Henry*

In the recent Languages for the Future report, Spanish
was highlighted as
the most important language for people in the UK to
learn.

*It is the second most spoken language in the world*;
second only to Mandarin- English is third.
Spanish is spoken in 5 continents
We have three countries in Africa, equatorial guinea
whose capital is
Malabo, Northern Morocco and former Spanish Sahara
now Western Sahara.
Countries in south America apart Brazil has Spanish as
it’s official
language i.e Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia,
Ecuador, Guyana,
Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
The second most important language in the United
States is Spanish. It is
taught in all schools.
I have two students who are now studying medicine in
the US of A.
What do You think Delayed them?
In order to study medicine in the United States, they
both needed to be
fluent in Spanish. Having graduated from my intensive
course one is now
studying Medicine at "Howard University" and the other
is studying at a
University in New Jersey.
For those wondering how come am I fluent, I did spend
5 yrs. Buenos Aires,
where I did my IGCSE (Cambridge O’Level
examination) and had a C in
chemistry, a C in English and B in Spanish- which
means my Spanish is better than my English.
Having taught Spanish for five years I have come to
the conclusion that Spanish is better than French.

Why do I say so?

From movies to soap operas, to football, Spanish
culture has taken the world.

The food is not even left behind in its desire to
dominate. From tacos, tortillas, paella (Spanish rice) which they use Mariscos (Sea-food ) to eat.

As you and I know the United States has Spanish as its second language,
this goes to show that business will be transacted in it.
This put those
who have adopted the Spanish language as a second
language in strong
footing when looking for a job.
*Spanish is Easier Than French*
Let’s just say French is not a walk in the park, learning
how to pronounce
everything. The way French is written is different from
how it’s pronounced
which makes learning writing and speaking almost a
separate experience.
Spanish is a fairly phonetic language and you can
pronounce everything
exactly how it’s written, once you learn the rules
(double l’s sound like a
y, and h at the beginning is silent, etc).
French also has more “accent marks” than in Spanish.
French has the acute
accent (étudiant), the grave accent (où), the
circumflex (être), the umlaut
(naïve), and the cedilla (garçon). Spanish on the other
hand only uses the acute accent (está) and on occasion the umlaut (vergüenza).

*Even Plurals Are A Tad Difficult in French*

Plurals in Spanish are pretty straight forward. You
usually add -s or -es
at the end of a word, with the occasional change of a consonant.

Blue = azul (sing.) / azules (pl.)
Animal = animal (sing.) / animales (pl.)
Cat = gato (sing.) / gatos (pl.)
Happy = feliz (sing.) / felices (pl.)
In French, sometimes some of this crazy stuff happen.
Blue = bleu (sing). / bleus (pl.) (masculine)
Animal = animal (sing). / animaux (pl.)
Cat = chat (sing.) / chats (pl.)

*Speaking Spanish Will helps You do business in Latin
America*

The same element that makes Spanish such a
culturally rich language -- the fact that it is spoken in so many countries -- is also the key to its potential in the world of work.

With a combined population of over 221 million people,
Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico have all been identified by the
Confederation of British Industry as upcoming economies. Mexico, for example, is one of the most open trading nations in the world.

Imagine speaking their language.
Imagine closing deals with them.
Imagine exporting

cashew to them just because you can speak Spanish
fluently.
Imagine the possibilities
*Why You Will Love Spanish-Its Romantic and Friendly*
Spanish makes its use of diminutives. The usual form
is to add '-ito' or
'-ico' to the end of a word, which can be used to
create affectionate
terms: 'Juanito' (from Juan), 'mi amorcito' (my little
love). However, in
Latin America, everything ends up as a diminutive: it’s
not a 'café'
(coffee), it’s a 'cafecito'. It’s not a 'cerveza' (beer), it’s
a
'cervecita'. This gives the language a warmth and
friendliness that
reflects the typically laid-back attitudes of the Latin
American people.
