I went to buy electricity unit in a PHED major office in Trans Amidi road, PortHarcourt. I paid N2000 and they sent me text containing my token and the units.

Check this out

Amount paid : N2000

Unit given : 76.3


With the new tarriff,

1unit = N24.91

VAT = 5% of amount spent on unit

do this simple mathematics;

Amount spent on unit: 76.3 X 24.91 = N1900.633

+

VAT : 0.05 X 1900.633 = N95.032

Actual Amount spent should be =N1995.66



Money stolen by PHED: N2000 – N1995.66 = N4.34



For every N2000 u pay to PHED, They steal N4.34, it looks small right?

But when you multiply this by like 80million Nigerians, it turns out large

4.34 X 80, 000,000 = N346. 8 million per month.



I thought the Government said PHED should suspend the high tariff stuff. This government just they roar like old broken lion… nobody they fear them.

Bro, we just received a new metre from bedc benin meant for commercial places and the tariff is #30 per unit. Now they said that we can calculate the units being displayed on the metre screen so we'll know exactly what to pay. I am really finding it difficult reading it, and by this ur post, I perceive u have knowledge of this. So can u help by giving me the lay-down? As in, how to read the units. thanks.

Bro I thought am the only person that made that observation. Can you imagine that my dad sent his driver to buy some units to reload the account and what was given him was 133kwh for N5000.00. I just wonder how they do their calculation
