Anybody that tells u mercedes benz cars consume too much fuel is a liar. Both the I4 and V6 from year 2000 till date consume very little fuel. The v8 engines will obviously consume more fuel. 2000 naira fuel takes me from abuja to kaduna in a v6 mercedes at speeds of 160-180 with the AC on.

I concur bros. I drive a 2007 C280 4matic. It burns 1/4. (15 litres) of the tank from my house in Lagos to my house in the town of Ibadan (about 150 km).

Truth. My colleague drives the 2008 C240 model. He said the car uses less fuel than his Toyota Camry for an equal distance. I envy him whenever he praises the fuel economy of that ride. Makes me wanna port to Mercedes.

Please I need advise. I want to buy a Mercedes Benz C280. Should I? How easy is it to maintain. Do you recommend? What should I be on the lookout for? I am told it is expensive to maintain. True?

Please help.

If you never ready to buy motor kindly leave it.
No car is easy to maintain.
If the engine of the ever reliable camry fail you'd cough over 270k including labor and oil change .
If the 13pin transmission fails you'd also cough out large amount of money.

No car is easy to maintain.
Any part can fail at any time.

My advice just make sure you don't spend more than half of your savings buying a car.
If you do that you'd be fine.
And make sure you buy a car that is In good condition.

All those talk about fuel economy just gets me pissed.
If you intend to to use 2k fuel for a whole week. Kindly avoid owning a car.

I strongly recommend. If u are buying used, make sure it wasn't abused. From my experience it wasn't expensive to maintain, routine oil change with two gallons of Mobil 1 and oil filter every 6 months, 26k total. If you drive on bad roads regularly, budget for low arms, bushings and front shocks yearly, not more than 25k for all (toks parts). Before buying make sure the engine and transmission are in top shape, one thing to look out for is a clicking sound coming from the engine immediately after start-up. If that clicking sound is present, run away. For the transmission, just make sure it's shifting properly. Parts are widely available. You didn't mention the year you plan on buying, I believe it is either 2006 or 2007 model.

Buy any Benz and enjoy comfort, stability and fuel efficiency all at the same time.

But if you only want fuel economy, try the Nissan micra, Suzuki alto Kia picanto, Hyundai i10 and the rest in that category
