Governor Ambode has ordered us to evacuate our homes. It is no longer news that a building that was under construction by Lekki Gardens Estates collapsed and 35 people lost their lives in the tragedy, the situation has been on for about a week and nobody is particularly happy about it. We commend the spontaneous efforts of Governor Ambode in restoring sanity and providing solutions to the housing problems, however, this fire-brigade approach is not a viable option for all stakeholders i.e real estate investors, Lekki Gardens Home owners, Building contractors and the Goverment to name a few.

We need to clarify these issues.

1. The houses we own and live in are no longer the property of Lekki Gardens Estates. Yes, Lekki Gardens constructed them but ownership has been transferred to us.

2. Leaving our houses for the sake of an integrity test is totally unacceptable because we do not have any other place to stay.

3. We expect the Lagos State Government under the watchful eyes of Governor Ambode to apply calculated and tactful steps in tackling this issue rather than asking us to leave the houses we bought with our hard-earned money.

4. The unfortunate incident that happened was not pleasing to anyone but nonetheless, we the occupants of houses built by Lekki Gardens should not be made scape goats by asking us to leave our houses due to Government's negligence in the first instance.

5. The State Government should continue to look inwards in tackling the problems rather than exercising power and might in evacuating us.

6. Does the State Government have specially designed buildings reserved to be occupied by Lekki Gardens house owners/occupants when they evacuate?

We hereby solicit the Federal Government's assistance on this matter as we are helpless. Asking us to leave our houses in the name of laboratory and integrity tests is not a viable option; it is a wrong step taking in the right direction.

Finally, We demand for urgent attention by the appropriate authorities so that this issue can be resolved. Thanks for your anticipated co-operation.

The Lagos State Government should better do the needful so that when posterity will judge the government, it will be for a honest reason and a noble cause.

For the Lagos State Government to ask occupants of Lekki Gardens residents to vacate their own homes all in the name of integrity tests is totally unacceptable; besides, has alternative houses been built or prepared to be given to the Home Owners when they evacuate? Please Gov Ambode, do the right thing.

This is good riddance to bad rubbish............. I cant imagine a Government which should be responsive and sensitive with inherent ability of reasoning making a decision which is capable of causing chaos and bringing discomfort for his citizens. I totally disagree with that decision. asking people to evacuate their homes is not right.

That was really a knee-jerk reaction from the LASG.

Are they bringing down the roof for the test? What's the test process that residents have to evacuate first before they can proceed?

Current Residents needs to resist the idea of vacating you guys, because you might end up staying outside for the next 5-10years, knowing our snail-speed court processes.

It will also be proper for the LAG to not just sack the former heads of the Building Agency, but to also put them in the dock to face trials alongside Richard and the Contractors.

LASG goofed by making such unrealistic remarks and pronouncements about Lekki Gardens Residents.......that is lawlessness and sheer callousness of the highest order....... I am sure the occupants will reject such order in totality and it will definitely be a project in futility.

I am sure Governor Ambode attached sentiments and emotions when he made such an unrealistic pronouncement of forceful evacuation of Lekki Gardens Residents.... thats totally not good enough and it is unreasonable.... Government should look inwards and create better platforms for providing solutions to this fundamental issue........... asking them to leave their houses is totally unacceptable and am sure the Residents will resist that in totality.

I sincerely commend the efforts of Governor Ambode in restoring sanity, regulating as well as checking excesses as related to issues of Real Estates Management in Lagos State, but nonetheless, the subject of evacuation in the observatory integrity test context should not even arise..... when we have waist pain, we don't cut heads off. The agency saddled with the responsibility of regulation of buildings should be sanctioned and brought to book rather than asking people to vacate their houses in the name of Integrity test..... this is real bullshit

It makes sense that Government wants to carry out integrity test so as to forestall any possible occurrence of collapse but the mode is unacceptable and that will be an unfair treatment to the Residents affected and also relevant stakeholders...... I plead with the Government to rethink again and push other means in restoring peace and harmony to the already over-heated polity.

The deed has been done, though unintentionally, the man has also achieved a lot by providing affordable, yet luxurious housing to Nigerians, but asking residents to evacuate their home is appalling, this property is no longer Lekki Gardens asset, this is why there's anything called C/O, Deed of Assignment and survey...to transfer ownership to buyers, this is just like asking Nigerians to leave their home land and their acquired properties...Where do they expect these people to take their families to? Please let's be realistic in handling this issue.

I sincerely appeal to the Lagos state Government to apply innovative steps in tackling the problems or hazards arising from Real Estate business. regulatory framework is absolutely necessary but total clampdown on Residents and pointing accusing fingers on particular Real Estate Agency is not the best in providing solutions to the lingering problems.

If Ambode push every Lekki Gardens Residents out of their homes all in the name of integrity tests which I consider trying to kill a mosquito after it had caused its damage, when do u want them to put their head. I am not saying its not good to regulate but do it as not inflict more pain on the people.

At last am happy that we have people who can resist the beast in the Lagos State Government in his attempt to eject people out of their homes all in the name of Integrity tests.......... We are not stupid at all and We urge the Government to the needful in the right order.

Are u saying the occupants of Lekki Gardens Residents should suffer as a result of Government's negligence in the first instance.... all Staff of Agency who should regulate Real Estate Management Services in Lagos State should be docked and put behind bars. thats my own humble suggestion. you can deprive people of their rights all in the name of a delayed integrity test which I consider awkward.

Ambode should not forget posterity will judge him If the right decisions are not taking as regards salient issues like this......I am in support of integrity tests to be carried out on buildings in Lagos States but reject in totality evacuating people from their houses.

The way things are right now, We can only plead with the Government to show respect and have sympathy for humanity in the discharge of his duties. Governor Ambode.......please and please dont eject us out of our houses in the name of integrity test.
