Some Common Practices That Could Pose Serious Health Risk Later In Life by Nobody: 2:33pm On Mar 20, 2016

As we age, our body's immune system and most organs and tissues in our body grow weak making us prone to some kind of illness and organ failure. Some of the habits discussed below hasten this process and should be avoided in order to maximise life:

1) Smoking: smoking is a very dangerous habit as it poses severe health risks. The smoke contains poisonous gaseous substance like carbon mono oxide which does not affect the smoker alone but people around the smoker who inhale the smoke (passive smoking). Smoking is one of the leading cause of cancer and birth defects in pregnant women. Research has shown that people who smoke do not live long.

2) Drinking: The excessive comsumption of alcohol causes a great deal of harm to the body. Alcohol causes a wide range of life threatening disease, including liver cirrhosis, jaundice in adult and some renal related illness. Dont be decieved by people who brag about how many cartons of beer they can consume without getting drunk. Drunk or not, alcohol is alcohol and it poisons you slowly.

3.) Wearing of high heeled shoe: Sorry to dissappoint you ladies, but research has confirmed that the constant use of these tower shoes is disadvantageous to your health.
A recent studyconducted at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has found that although wearing high heels initially strengthens a woman’s ankle muscles, it eventually leads to instability and weakening of those same muscles.
"Initially, when wearing heels, the muscles that surround the ankles have to continuously contract to keep you upright and walking,” Tricia Turner, associate professor of kinesiology and athletic training coordinator in the College of Health and Human Services at UNC Charlotte, said in a statement.
Stay away from high heeled shoes ladies, except you want to walk on all fours at age 45

4.) Having Unprotected sex: No doubt you must have heard this before: "na skin to skin the sweet pass" or "His semen will make me more pretty, sexy".
Auntie! Thats a lie. Unprotected sex is ten times riskier than smoking indian hemp. There are a wide range of stubborn STIs/STDs which can be contracted from unprotected sex and unfortunately, 80% are life threatening or have no cure.
Some of these disease causes madness, miscarriges in pregnant women and even death if not detected on time, treated on time and properly.
If you are sexually active, always use a condom consistently and correctly as you may live to regret forever.

5.) Keeping multiple sexual partners: abstinces remains the best policy in as much as STDs/STIs are concerned. It is sad to note that this has been thrown to the pigs. Both men and woman keep as many; as from three to ten different sex partners. This is a very risky practice as you are exposed to numerous STDs from all these "multi sex patners " coupled with the fact that most people in Nigeria do not practise "safe sex", the risk is even higher!
The golden rule, if you must have sex: " keep a faithful partner and always use a condom correctly and consistently".

6.) Lack of exercise: exercise is very important for everyone, both young and old as it is a heart friendly activity. Not excersing properly or at all will have a great toll on ones health as he or she ages. Exercise builds stamina, increases blood flow to all organs in the body and stregthens the bones, the muscles and even the immune system!.

7.) Bleaching creams: most Nigerian ladies have vowed to change from black to white before 2o16 run out, and the ultimate solution is bleaching.
Bleaching creams contains strong chemical substances that sheds the skin and kill skin cells which protects the skin from U.V rays. This practically exposes the skin directly to U.V rays from the sun which we all know is capable of causing skin cancer. Bleaching also interferes with the normal blood clotting process, because majority of the skin's cells are killed by the chemicals in the cream. No wonder! When people who bleach get injured, it takes alot of time, more than normal to heal!

8.) Drug abuse: this is the use of drugs in such a way that it causes harm to the body. Most people take random drugs and without the doctors direction. This could lead to serious mental impairment and even death. Drugs like tramadol, cough syrup, codine e.t.c. Are drugs that are commonly abused in Nigeria. Do not forget that these drugs could cause renal failure, liver impairment and death if abused.
.
.
9.) Masturbation: this simple innocent act could pose serious health risk if done in excess. Excessive masturbation causes weak erection, premature ejaculation, low sperm count and a host of other sex related problems in men.
