They drive too close to each other. When u apply brake it moves like extra 1meter before cars come to rest. You actually knw wat am saying. If that isn't the cause them maybe they all fell frm sky or behind a lorry carrying them. Eh eh
My point is that the cars behind did not give enough room for braking in case of emergency. If the case goes to court based on your assertions, the cars behind will likely get the blame. In driving school they teach emergency braking and the distance you should have between your car and the one behind which is usually difficult to stick to.

The first vehicle is a danfo so not difficult to imagine what would have happened--he most probably saw a potential passenger and slammed the brakes abruptly without thinking of anyone behind...they do that all the time

its very obvious,na dem sabi drive pass!!you slam hard on your brake and your tyres screeches for a few distance before the vehicle stops,i guess friction is the culprit behind that scenario.

You are the one not getting it sir. The cause of the accident cannot be sudden slamming of brakes, otherwise, you are inferring that every time we slam brakes, we must ram into objects in front of us.

The multiple accident was caused obviously by disobedience of a combination of driving rules, such as;

Not maintaining safe driving distance
Too much speed for the location
Rushing to beat traffic light (as postulated) that would have allowed them only if they can wait 2-3 minutes at the maximum
Not knowing that Amber on traffic light means get ready(to move or to stop), in either case must be done at dead speed
Use of mobile phone without a hands-free accessory (as postulated)
Mentality of not wanting to allow any vehicle to drive in front of you, like there's a competition

How can that be the cause? What happened to the brakes of the other vehicles? undecided
if d distance between dem wasnt much....deir brakes wuldnt hav been able to halt the car totally before impact

the number of years depicts nothing,from the story the first vehicle hit his brakes too hard which gave an abrupt stop to his vehicle,vehicles tailing him followed suit by ramming into each others back,so whats the cause of the accident if not that simple logic?other stuffs leading to the sudden stop might be any of the things u mentioned,and yes its not every time you hit your brakes u get your required stoppage time,it depends on a number of factors.......said it earlier the vehicles were driving really close to each other at a considerable speed,cuz the damage aint that much.
