OGC Nice, Mamelodi Sundowns lead chase for Eagles No 1 Ezenwa

By admin -
October 23, 2017, 3:56 pm

French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa as well as Israeli clubs Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Tel Aviv are among the clubs now in hot pursuit of Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

SCORENigeria further learnt there are also interests from Egypt and Tunisia.

Ezenwa’s contract with FC Ifeanyiubah has expired and he has told SCORENigeria he is a free player and will be open to offers.

The goalkeeper’s agent and chief executive of Johannesburg-based Gzedsports Management Company, Godwin Emmanuel, said: “Yes, it is true that some clubs are showing interests in signing Ezenwa.

“We are not surprised anyway given the favour of God on him which has granted him the grace of great performances in recent times both for club and country but particularly in the World Cup qualifiers.

“I cannot disclose the names of the clubs because there are other people working behind the scene for the success of Ezenwa.

“I can only tell you that we are waiting for divine direction on the next move for Ezenwa.”

Ezenwa simply said, “I am not thinking of where my next port of call will be. I have left it in God’s holy hands.

“My concern is to play football regularly and be happy.

“I want to remain focused and I pray for fitness at all times.”

The former Flying Eagles shot stopper has risen to be the country’s No 1 in the last two months, helping Nigeria to qualify for both the 2018 World Cup in Russia as well as the CHAN in Morocco, also next year.

Real Madrid have reached a deal with the Brazilian side Flamengo to sign forward Vinícius Júnior in July 2018, the Spanish champions announced on Tuesday. Vinícius has just one senior appearance for Flamengo, making his professional debut just 10 days ago in a league game against Atlético Mineiro.

The deal for the 16-year-old is worth €46m (£39.6m), which would make him the second most expensive signing from the Brazilian league in history. The most costly is Barcelona’s Neymar, who moved from Santos in 2013 for an estimated €86m, a player Vinícius has been likened to. Barça were also interested in Vinícius but were unsuccessful in their attempt to sign him.

forgiveness:

Stop beaten around the bush. My point is clear. 8.4 million pounds was initially tabled but Gent rejected the cash. Simple.

I can give you more than 5 credible source to back it. The one I gave you, does it look like Wikipedia?

My friend, they bidded thrice. The last being in the range of 10 million pounds. Bhuuuhahaha! grin

Based on this, Simon Moses is more valuable than Henry Onyekuru. Period. grin

Exclusive – Brighton’s Third Bid For Super Eagles Ace Moses Simon Rejected By Gent

August 18, 2017

Newly promoted English Premier League side Brighton have seen a third bid for Nigerian forward Moses Simon rejected by Belgium side Gent, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Brighton have failed with two bids for the Nigeria international but they were confident of landing their man with their last bid of around 10 million pounds, but Gent tuned it down.

Gent are demanding a fee of close to 15 million pounds for the 22 year old who has been at the club for three seasons, and was at a time heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

It is believed the club won’t be making another bid for Simon ‎as they have moved on to other targets but the forward is still on the radar of fellow Premier League side West Brom.

He has just two years left on his contract with the Belgium side, and despite his non committal towards extending his contract at the club, Gent are not willing to lower their asking price from interested clubs.

Bros, you no dey tire. Okay, we don hear. You win. Simon is better than Henry. He's even better than everybody in the team. Kapish?

So, tell us your formation for the game against Argentina...

NIGERIA'S SEMIFINAL AMBITION "A LITTLE MORE EXCESSIVE" -- Rohr (RETITLED BY ME)

Rohr : Super Eagles Ambition Is To Reach World Cup Semifinal
Published: October 23, 2017

Rohr : Super Eagles Ambition Is To Reach World Cup SemifinalSuper Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has set a semi-final target for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, saying that they already advanced to the round of 16 in three previous tournaments.

Against all the odds, the national team qualified for next year's showpiece with a game to spare after beating Zambia 1-0 in Uyo on October 7.

''They are already out of the group stage to go to the round of 16, especially in 2014 when they faced the French team (0-2 defeat),'' Rohr told French sports newspaper L'Equipe.

''We will try to do as well. Unfortunately, here, the ambitions are a little more excessive: the team must reach at least the semifinals.

''We have the ambition of the leaders to manage, even if I get along very well with the president (Amaju Pinnick), who came to get me.

''There are many people at the Federation (NFF). As in all African countries, it's never easy. But for now, it's going very well.''

Nigeria will return to action when they face Algeria in their final 2018 World Cup qualifier on November 10, before wrapping up their 2017 schedule with a friendly against Argentina four days later in Russia.

FIFA to look into changing nationality rules
OCTOBER 19, 2017

ZURICH (Reuters) - FIFA is considering an overhaul of the rules which govern players’ eligibility for national teams, including a proposal which would allow them to switch allegiance in certain circumstances.

FILE PHOTO: The logo of FIFA is seen in front of its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland September 26, 2017. REUTERS/Arnd Wiegmann
Victor Montagliani, head of FIFA’s stakeholders’ committee, said there were issues regarding the rules, which are aimed at preventing players from switching between national teams or representing countries they have no connection with.

“There are so many issues that have popped up over the years because the world is changing, immigration is changing,” said the Canadian, who is president of the North, Central America and Caribbean federation (CONCACAF).

“There are nationality issues that pop up all over the world, in Africa, there are issues in Asia and CONCACAF, so its a good time to have a look at this and see if there are solutions, without hurting the integrity of the game.”

At present, players who have played a competitive international for one team cannot switch to another national side even when they hold dual nationality.

The Cape Verde football federation has proposed this rule be relaxed in cases where the player has played only one or two games for his original national side but has no realistic chance of a recall.

Players are only allowed to represent a country with which they have no blood connection if they have lived and played there for five years, but Montagliani said his committee would look into changing that period and possibly increasing it.

World soccer’s ruling body could also look into a compensation scheme in cases where a player goes through the training system of one country and represents it a youth level before switching to another.
