not sure about leaving ranchers bees for leventis because leventis utd and abiola babes were disbanded in 1988..as at 1989 ayo ogunlana was still with ranchers bees(along with dahiru sadi, tajudeen oyekanmi, adamu jeje, abubakar balarabe and Daniel amokachi)
Good memorable old days, honestly i thought he left Ranchers bees.

pace ,power and tactics {park the bus and tikitaka)
nothing wrong with tiki taka to me because at least teams that played it(barca and city under guardiola) are/were attacking minded and also played expansive football which is entertaining to watch but park the bus pattern?smh..even Romania in USA 94 were largely defensive minded but their counter attacks were breath taking (all those hags, radiciou and dumetriscu had mad skill and techniques)

His future is become bleak football wise with his dismal performances.

He really needs to work on himself ASAP because the time is approaching when Wenger won't be there for him any longer.
His future is at stake.

Oga, calm down....His future is not bleak...

Can we wait to see the new manager first?

Victor Moses was not regarded by the Chelsea mangers until Conte... Iwobi could thrive under a new coach.. He has the ability.

just finished watching it .... stepped it down with the testimonial match . that guy is too skilful to quit football so early . like today's football requires lesser dribbling skills ...too much tactics and robotic kind of play has killed some fun in the game .

for watching skill football of course..however the thing is there has to be some balance because football inevitably started changing in other to get results...jogo Bonito or rather simply known as samba football by Brazil was dealt a heavy blow by Italy in 1982 because European teams started evolving tactically from the 1970s..Brazil in that tournament was all skill and technique and 'happy football' but tactics were largely non existent..Italy made them pay for that in 82...Brazilians were distraught at that loss and there talks about whether they should continue with that jogo Bonito type of football..after one or two years they brought back the same coach that led them in 1982(Tele Santana) to lead them again for what was possibly a final push to see whether jogo Bonito should prevail in Mexico 1986..off course Brazil lost to France in that classic quarter final on penalties which nailed the final coffin on jogo Bonito football in Brazilian nation team..if Brazil had won 1986 world cup they probably would have continued with that kind of football into the 90s.

[quote author=Kog45 post=66937829]Ayo Ogunlana played for old Ranchers bees of Kaduna coached by Argentine named Dominiques and later moved to Leventus United.

He was member of Afcon 1990 team in Algeria. He was well known for his free kicks and arguably the best in Nigeria football history.

yes I remember ayo ogunlana of the stinging bees of Kaduna,it was a great team their coach Alejandro dominiquez was one of the best foreign coach I have ever seen in the Nigeria league

I agreed with you that he was one of Nigeria league best free kick specialist

Ayo never play for leventis ,he move to Julius berger after leaving the bees

Do you know Salisu yusuf what once a team mate of ayo in rancher bee?

I remember Ayo Ogunlana back at Ranchers Bee. They really had a very mobile team with lots of energy in the middle of the park. Very typical of teams from the Sahel region.

Although when it comes to freekicks I will give it to the chairman himself, CCC. Who can forget those thunderous ballistic missiles that flew off his boot and straight into the top corner. I honestly feel Nigeria have yet to find a like for like replacement for Christian Chukwu. He was the Nigerian version of Franz Beckanbuer. In myopinion, he came too early for his time.

Oh chairman Chuckwu, well Ayo had it so good in Nigeria league

Okocha did it well at later stage of his career, also Chris Ohenhen was a good free kick taker

Hope to see Iheanacho,Simeon Moses scoring from free kicks at WC..

Watch him closely ke? is it not the same Tammy I watch? Come on, bro

Cant remember when last he even scored.
He doesn't even deserve our bench

Someone that was promised an automatic place in our World Cup Squad.. chai!
The Tammy i watched against Man utd was solid cos in the space of 10 minutes De Gea had three wonderful saves from him that would have beat any keeper.

The guy with his age is good and look promising.

Oh doesn't deserve Nigeria bench?no comment.

“It’s the movement that’s important, if you run well, you get the ball, sometimes you make a hundred runs without the ball and you score with the next ball, you always have to keep pushing. I think that is one quality I have over most Nigerian strikers”, Jololo as Sadiq is fondly called told FoxSports.

Has any Nigerian ever scored from a free-kick in any World Cup?

Has Nigeria generally scored from any form of set piece, be it corner or indirect free kick?

We have not even won any penalty.

Still scratching my head.

As long as we cannot get goals except from open plays we will continue to struggle in major competitions like the WC.

My advice to you is please before you respond to any comment on this thread PLEASE PUT YOUR BRAIN IN GEAR FIRST. What I expected you to ask me is which period I was referring to. I was referring to the 2004-2010 period when the Essiens, Drogbas, Toures, Muntaris and Keitas reigned. Can you please remind me in case I have forgotten between 1996-2002 the creme dey LA creme players you are referring to.

Can't you make your point politely?. Must you insult him?

Then go watch his clips then before you quote!

Actually I have. And sorry, I didn't see anything that suggested his dribbling was anywhere close to Mahrez style.

I call it machine football. Crisp, efficient but cold. I watched Spain in the last friendlies and I was bored to stupor by their endless passing. I've always hated tiki taka.

Some people like it sha.
