I bought my car and registered it in Ogun State over 3 years ago but when I checked d status of my plate number, d info is 'd plate number av bin produced by FRSC BT yet to be alloted to any car'. However, I tried checking alot of plate numbers registered in Ogun State and it's all d same info. Wen I made enquiry at d Inland Revenue Service dey said it's d agents DAT helped us in doing d registration dat refused to come back to d right fin wif dem after dey av collected d plate number. Dis simply connotes DAT d particulars of d vehicles are nt on d FIRS database. Only God go save us in dis country o.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU OWN A CAR OR DESIRE TO OWN ONE...

I got this on another thread. Can this info be verified, or dismissed..."I think it's time we stop over focussing on this PDP/APC, PMB and the rest issues and start looking where our problem is. I believe our problem is in the institutions of this country. I don't want to mention that of police now - its for another day. It was on the 14th day of March that I drove into one of the police stations to obtain the new tinted glass permit, in the process, it was discovered that the plate number of my car is being used by another car. My first question is "How is it possible?" Because I obtained this number from FRSC with all documents intact. I never know the car is going to stay for 12 days in the station.
A file was quickly opened and the car became an exhibit. Thank God the car was registered by a very high ranking officer of the FRSC whom was brought to the station. As the investigation was going on, it was discovered that some people were producing these fake and duplicate number plates and giving out to innocent and unsuspicious Nigerian ripping them off their hard earned money.
My question is, should we now go and buy these numbers at a shop in Alaba or at idumota instead of the federal government approved agencies? In the course of my research, I stumbled upon the number plate verification system online. I started verifying cars of friends, church members and even cars that I see on the road. A shocking revelation was made that OUT OF EVERY 10 CARS you see on the road with LAGOS and ABUJA number plates, that at least 4 of them are FAKE.
You can check your own now.
(1) Go to www.nvisng.org/numberplateverification.aspx
(2) Enter your number in the space provided. Eg "ABC863AP
(3) Click on verify button. Then an information will be displayed below the button. Because FRSC did not want the general public to see the full details of the registration, you will only see the name of your car and the date of registration.

Here are some samples:

1. This number plate has been produced by FRSC and assigned to Toyota highlander on 20/01/2015. If your car is Toyota highlander, then you are lucky its done. But if your car is for instance Toyota Camry and your verification shows the above message, then you are in as me. Solution is to go and re-register your car afresh.

2. This number plate has been produced by FRSC and assigned to Matrix however the vehicle is yet to be registered..... If your car is Matrix, then just go back to the person that registered your car and tell him/her to complete your registration.

3. This plate number has been produced by FRSC but yet to be assign to any vehicle. It means that they just gave you a number plate that is not even registered in their system. Solution is to go to them to register your car and upload your information.

4. An invalid/wrong number plate. Do I need to explain this, NO.

Verify your car first and sort yourself out with the FRSC before you even proceed to police for tinted permit cos if police are the one to find out, then you know what follows. Many innocent Nigerian are suffering now because of impunity in our institutions. Note: this verification is only applicable to the number plates with this formats ABC123AB not AB123 ABC.

Let us spread this news until everyone is aware of this evil FRSC is perpetrating. You are free to share."

Not all plate number are fake, the problem is with the LAGOS STATE because Lagos state is the only state producing her plate number and they need to upload it on FRSC Website and they didn't, so causing the problem . They need to update their database. The issue is that if you need to do anything concerning your vehicle visit the person in uniform maybe VIO OR FRSC STAFF so dat will not fall into the hand of tout. thank you and God bless Nigeria

Check your prove of ownership certificate. you will find the station of registration there. Go there and tell them to upload your vehicle's information as it could have been omitted when the vehicle was registered. Go with your allocation of registration no and prove of ownership.
Thanks a million. I will do just that.

You should be given as part of your registration documents. Nonetheless, you can get it from any state. Where are you currently living?

My vehicle was registered in lagos and POC is hand written. I stay in portharcourt and was told I can only Complete my vehicle registration in the state I registered the vehicle.

How do you mean by completing registration in the State of residence? That handwritten is a makeshift POC. Nonetheless, can one say it's invalid?

Infact I don't just understand because that was what they told me when I went to BIR in portharcourt that I will have to go to lagos to complete the registration.

Just checked the verification of my number plate again and got this. But all this while it's been showing "registration not yet complete" Is it that frsc is retracing their step or what? Those with incomplete registration should check again and see what they got.

What did they tell you to get in Lag to complete your registration? If it's the original POC, any Road Safety NVIS Desk officer from the 36 States + 1 can handle that, even at PH.

Its the POC they talked about which was hand written, but I wonder why they said I must go back to lag to get the computer printed copy
Re: How To Check If Your Number Plate Is Fake by AXYZ: 9:41am On Apr 01, 2016
If it's just the POC, go to FRSC Office at PH and ask for the NVIS Desk officer and explain accordingly. He might just be able to help you UPDATE your POC online even without necessarily printing it out this time around.

You are right and wrong at the same time. Not all no plates are fake just that lagos state have not uploaded their no plate's information on frsc data base for one reason or the other. This is very correct.

But meeting with those in uniform like the frsc or vio PERSONNELS to get your vehicle registered or your vehicle documentations, this is very wrong. Reason : it is not the frsc nor the vio's job to issue no plates but the mvaa's ( motor vehicle administration agency ) and these body wears no particular uniform. This body sees to all your vehicle documentations apart from the road worthiness that is issued by the vio.

So this means that if you meet with any of the uniform personnels to get your vehicle registered, they will still have to go to one of the MVAA stations to get it done making them work as agent also.

Hence, if you don't want to go through any agent at all, just locate any of the MVAA stations around you.

Note: frsc, vio, and mvaa: the three bodies sees to driver's license.

Sorry but this is an old no plate's format. If you read through the origin of this thread you would notice know that this only works with the new no plate format where the local government comes 1st.

Just becos your platee number didnt appear doesnt mean its fake.

How many frsc offices have functional computers or even have electricity.

Someone has to key in these numbers in the data base, thats most likely the case when you dont see your number, dont let any fraudster fool you
