Is Capitalist Or Socialist System The Best For Nigeria? by Uchebobo: 4:30pm On Jul 31, 2009
Capitalist System is employed by the USA. Socialist System is employed by European countries. I believe you all agree with me that Nigeria neither practice Capitalist nor Socialism. We practice both for now. Improvement is needed to help the vast majority in poverty. Is Capitalist or Socialist System the best for Nigeria? Post comment on my blog.

Different ethnic groups in nigeria thrives on different systems.I am not too sure about others but hausas and fulanis thrive under populist system,Yorubas prefer socialist system in general while igbos are hardcore capitalists.I also have the feeling that ibibios are are also capitalists.

The USA is now mixing its capitalism with socialist ideologies. A nation cannot bailout firms without knowing that that amounts to socialism or communism. Even the anti-trust laws shows there's a limit to capitalism. A mixture is the best thing. But you have to take the good from the different systems and cast away the bad.

I think a mixture of the two will be better for nigeria. The socialist is a very good idea but i doubt it will be implemented in nigeria because we don't want to see ourselves as equals. Some people want to be always rich and show to his neighbour that i am more than you.

The socialist idea if implemented like in western Europe will curb our greed and corruption. Having convoy of cars and chains of estates and properties without paying tax for it and there people around you hungry and dieing. So i will choose a system of government that is 70 percent socialist and 30 percent capitalist.

European countries are not Socialist, they are a mix. They had no socialist economic policies before the crisis.

I understood how you feel. I really do honey. I think the word “doomed” is too much. Nigeria is a system we need to breakdown into subsystem in order to determine the root cause, brainstorm together, analyze and develop a system that will work for every Nigerians. I’ll appreciate if you can be a little bit loose in your perception. Thank you

Nigeria is not doomed as long as the sun continue to shine, it will shine on Nigeria too. We can do it if we mean it. We can make it great if we don't doomed it.

None of the above. The problem is not what system exists but the leaders that exist/control the system.

The leaders are still divided on the system that better fit Nigerians. They want to conduct this research to here from you. Pls vote, add comment and your thoughts.

I think we just need a Government that works, Ideological paradigms don't make sense in this day and age.

the recession has made nonsense of ideologies and stretched its boundaries

what we have seen in this midst of the recession is a situation where the so called hardcore proponents of capitalism are happy to collect money from the state to bail out their banks when the banks fail. (the bailout sounds like socialism to me).

In essence what the world has done is to privatise profit and socialise loss

I think at this age people should be questioning the activities of Government policy by policy, and asking common sense questions whether Government is giving us the right deals. Ideologies don't mean much anymore, they are just frameworks used to favour a few over the many. And this includes both capitalism and socialism.

Nigeria is a country established by God with great natural resources, conquered by British, gained independence in 1960 but still in the dark looking for the right switch to turn on the light.

People don’t understand that people make the country not political systems. No political system can work on people who refuse to work hard for themselves and for their neighbour and who look to attribute blame to something other than themselves.

Capitalism, socialism, communism, dictatorship all do one thing and that is try to control population. If the people are not disciplined, no system will work and that is why primordial man moaned and complained. Moaning and complaining led to philosophy and ideology and ideology led to political systems.

Nigerians have it in them to create a great country. We have already created the best Black Country there is at the moment, if you want to believe or not. Now, at this difficult time, we have to rise above tribalism, religious strife, work hard and push for industrialisation.

and for whatever-gods-you-believe-in-sake we have to stop moaning!
