Members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) took to the street to protest the pronouncement of the returning officer Mr. Adamu Tanimu, in the just concluded area council election in Gwagwalada.

Tanimu had stated that the election is inconclusive even when the APGA candidate scored the highest number of votes in the concluded election.

Alhaji Mustapha Adamu Denze scored a total of 15,272 to defeat his closest rival the incumbent chairman of the council Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri, who scored 14,546 votes.

The election in Gwagwalada area council was generally peaceful, while the candidate of APGA, Denze is to address a press conference any moment from now.

Meanwhile, the result of chairmanship election of Kwali area council is yet to be called as election is still going on in Bako.

Why is APC and Buhari bent on subverting the will of the good people of Gwangwalada? We shall resist every attempt to steal the mandate that has been freely given to APGA.

if Buhari led INEC cannot conduct a simple LG rerun then we have to be worried for 2019.

We cannot continue like this! How tolerant can Nigerians be in the face all these? The inconclusive elections are a wake up call to looming danger ahead of 2019. I can tell INEC as presently constituted has challenge. I fear for the upcoming Governorship elections in Ondo and Edo. If an incumbent chairman is "struggling" to win an election with all the apparent paraphernalia of the state, he has simply lost out. Why pretend and needless agitate people. People should learn to concede defeat with a measure of decorum and decency. For many people, elections are only free and fair when they and/or their political party wins.

This is becoming worrisome. If INEC cannot conduct a council poll without halting the process, what hope does 2019 hold? There is a need to rejig the current leadership of the electoral body in order to avert a repeat of this in the elections ahead.

APGA was billed to win that election with a wide margin. APC couldn't just accept defeat.

Subverting what? All elections decleared inconclusive so far have been won by the leading candidate. Inec knows the cost of these reruns thats why they have insisted on doing the right thing rather than has tribunal throw out results.

Why not just observe and pass. This is not SIEC we are talking about, we are talking about INEC not been able to conduct ordinary LG election in Abuja. If u don't know there are just six (6) LG in Abuja. Is it not shameful ever since May 2015 all we have been having is inconclusive election even in some states that all they did was rerun, for me am worried. We have two gubernatorial elections to come in few months time, what message is INEC sending to NIGERIANS, if it take INEC almost 48hrs to conduct election for just 6 LG and some are still declared inconclusive for me INEC has failed.

Tanimu said the election became
inconclusive following
cancellation of two polling units
under Ibwa ward, which have a
cumulative registered voters of
1881.

The difference between APGA and
APC, according to the collation
officer stood at 726 votes.

My own line of argument is INEC ought to be proactive in discharging their duties, I understand some machineries are not within their control but being proactive will help them to avoid lots of issues as inconclusiveness of election almost every now and then.

APGA has been rigged out for almost a decade in elections in the country, from Governor down to the local levels. Imagine Abia state having PDP nearly sweeping the polls for a consecutive 12th year of so -called election, with Theo Orji hiding in Abuja as Senator.

Madness

When card reader fails, inec has to conduct the election manualy that is the option B and that is what happened during the election.

GEJ gave you free, fair, credible election and you took it for granted. From d handwritings on the wall you don't need an angel of God to tell you Buhari can't be voted out even if he fails. Diezani gave you petrol for N97 then N87 for 4yrs....you took it for granted now you're buying at N200 for over 3 months with begging and countless hours of queueing. Yeye dey smell.
