Lukman Not Responsible For Insecurity In Niger Delta — Aduwo Print E-mail
Written by By Shuaib Shuaib, Abuja
Saturday, 01 August 2009 03:47

A human rights activitist and the national coordinator of the Rights Monitoring Group, Olufemi Aduwo, has asked governors in the Niger Delta to take responsibility for the security failure in the region, making it unsafe for students and a petroleum university.

Speaking to leaders, Aduwo said the minister of Petroleum, Dr. Rilwanu Lukman was blameless, thus the governors calling for his head were being unfair. He said; "The College of Petroleum Studies, Kaduna was established in 1995 to train NNPC senior management staff. In 2005, former President Olusegun Obasanjo approved the upgrading of the institute into a full university, so it is not the making of Lukan."

"Also, there is the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Warri and the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE). FUPRE is a National University Commission — approved degree awarding university from the PTI with its own board and vice chancellor. So it is not true that the PTI has been relocated from Effurun to Kanduna", he said.

Aduwo said the reality was that there are two academic institutions (PTI&FUPRE) in Effurun with different managements that can be verified by anybody.

He said;" This incident will confirm that if peace cannot be attained in the Niger Delta, there is no way development will be attained. So these governors crying over spilt milk are being insincere to themselves. First of all, they must ensure there is peace in that area. Do we want to invest N14billion to establish a petroleum university in maybe Bayelsa where the lives of students there would be threatened and they would become victims of kidnappings on a daily basis? It does not make sense".

The hypocrisy is galling

Tinubu finished Lagos, Yoruba did not hold him accountable
Fayose finished Ekiti, nothing spoil
Agagu finished Ondo, it was business as usual
Ladoja was the same in Oyo
Now Akala, Oni, Oyinlola and Gbenga are dancing the macabre dance, but Yoruba have not asked them to account for the monies
How come the story is different with ND?

Secondly, the claim that ND is not safe for a university is hogwash. Aren't there unis in ND? Have the students being killed any more than cultists kill peeople in Ago iwoye, UniLag, Futo, Unijos etc?

Is the north safer than the ND? The activities of Boko Haram and other anti foreigner islamic fundamentalists in the North say NO

Has Aduwo told that to Yoruba traditional rulers, including the Oni of Ife who welcomed Fani Kayode home after looting the federal treasury to the tune of billions? Or the Olowu of Owu who recently crowned Oluremi-Adiukwu Bakare with a chieftaincy title after wrecking one of the failed banks. How moronic!

Ok!So now you agree that nothing is linked to unchallenged corruption here since there is unchallenged corruption elsewhere. Atlas Cove bombing will be a child's play compared to what will come next. Let your ragtag OPC get ready.

When would Nigerians call a spade a spade

Who ensures peace in the state?
a. Nigerian Police
b. Nigerian Army
c. SSS
d. The courts
e. All of the above
f. None of the above

If you answered "e", you're correct. If you say, the governor, or "f", you'll fail.

So, why is this Aduwo man blaming the governors for not maintaining peace in their states, when all the above are controlled from Abuja?
This "human rights" activist is obviously a paid pieper for Lukman, because he makes no sense at all.

Ode, your Governor is your chief security officer.

LAGOS has a population of almost 18 million 250 language speaking people from every corner of he country and the Gov' still managed to keep things and everybody in check.

It's called leadership, good governance and accountability, something the clowns and incompetent  leaders in the delta don't know shit about. Their only expertise is looting and stealing,

Abeg shut with ya finger pointing syndrome,

Despite all your childish insults, you have not said who controls the army, police, and SSS.
The governor is chief security officer on paper, but the GOC has more power in terms calling the army.
