7 Signs Of Cervical Cancer That Women Need To Observe! by MzPynQ: 5:57pm On Apr 16, 2016
Cervical cancer is most commonly caused by HPV or the human papillomavirus. This virus is highly contagious, as it is an STI (sexually transmitted infection) and comes in many types but only some of them cause cervical cancer.
Even though cervical or cervix cancer is deadly, although statistics about this cancer is frightening, cervical cancer can be prevented, and treated if diagnosed early.

Thus, people need to be aware of the signs as they are not very obvious and apparent, but there are ways to observe them.

Call your gynecologist in case you notice these symptoms:

Pain or bleeding

The cervical cancer cells grow on the cervix wall and they can dry out and crack which causes bleeding and pain. You may experience rectal or bladder bleeding. So, if there are any bleedings outside the menstrual period further investigation should proceed.

Warts

According to gynecologist Rosa Maria Leme, “The appearance of small warts (external or internal) serves as a red flag for some diseases such as HPV, which greatly increases the chances of cervical cancer in women.”

Unusual discharge

There might be a watery discharge due to the fact that when the cancer cells start growing in the cervix, the cells of the uterine will start to get out.

Anemia

If you feel fatigued, but your eating habits have not changed, or after your heart speeds up after normal exertion, then you may have symptoms of anemia. It can be caused by abnormal bleeding that often accompanies cervical cancer.

Weight loss

Mostly cancers suppress and decrease appetite as the swelling of the cervix compresses the stomach, resulting in decreased appetite and weight loss.

Urinary issues

The kidneys and the bladder may be compressed as the cervix swells, resulting in the obstruction of the urine passage. Because of that, patients may not be able to empty the bladder, which further causes pain and/or infection of the urinary tract.

Constant pain in the back, hips, and legs

This condition compresses the internal organs. The blood vessels can be compressed and this makes it difficult to reach the pelvis and legs that further results in pain and swelling of the ankles and legs.

These symptoms do not signify cancer necessarily. Your doctor will make the diagnosis. The risks are great of developing HPV and can be contracted by women and men as well. These are the risk factors:

Low immunity
Unprotected sex
Multiple sex partners
Smoking or breathing in second-hand smoke

Sexual transmitted infections are the most common cause of cervical cancer, thus it is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms of HPV/ preventive exams such as pap smear can assist in detecting cervical cancer early.

Do pap smears yearly.
