Getting ready to trek: We all know the jobs in Nigeria are fewer than the available number of graduates hence the struggle to grab the few available ones are too real for those people who have no ‘oga at he top’. This isn’t the endurance trek -NO! This is the one where you deck up in your best shirt, skirt/trousers and the traditional brown envelope, head out early to make that appointment for your first interview and subsequent ones or to submit our cv anywhere and everywhere just in case there is an opening.

Parents don’t care anymore: Now you are going to realize that your parents who provided for your every single need back in the university, will no longer do. they are either focusing on your siblings in school or easing off the stress of child rearing. So, all they do now is pray and hope you get a job, so you too can come and take care of them.

Nigeria as a student is different from Nigeria as a graduate: Now you are going to realize that life is not a bed of roses. Things have changed and you are now your own boss. Life is going to step on your toes, there will be times when it looks like your dreams will never come true or that God doesn’t answer prayers anymore but you are going to gave to keep moving.

Uncles don’t really care: Sadly, you are going to find that, that uncle who ave you a pat on the back and said ‘send me your cv when you graduate so I place you somewhere’, would now tell you that he has very little power to do anything for you. The sadder part, their child who also just passed out of NYSC the same time like you, wouldn’t have a problem getting a job.

Bills won’t pay themselves: Now you are now an adult. Like your parents say ‘we won’t always be there for you, a time will come when you have to stand upon your own too feet.” Now that time has come, and you are standing on your own two feet without a job in a sight and bills o pay but keep strong, there is God.

No more allowee: This is the moment where you realize that the constant N19k which you were paid as a corper and took for granted, will no longer come your way. This won’t matter to you, if you get a job immediately (which we hope you do) but would start to look like the whole world is against you, when you check your account balance and the little you saved up is about to finish.

And the only question on your mind is “We thought Buhari was going to give unemployed graduates 5k, where is it now” LOL!!!!!!!!!

Nothing can be more correct! The reality of life will now begin to dawn on someone. Many will now become passionate and aggressive political critics and analysts due to frustration. Hmmm....

I always wonder what the excitement is about completing NYSC. Getting a good job is worth celebrating.
Some ppl have their NYSC certs just collecting dust. Anyways, glad to be done with that waste of time programme.

After Nysc most (90%) Nigeria graduates become either a PDP or APC e-rat. Reasons why most youths are NFA (no future ambition) #factsdealwithit.

I always tell young guys. at all at all if things too bad, enter lagos island and start to drive one of this rich men. don't allow them know you are a graduate else they will scatter your plans and make it difficult to live. by that....

1. you can afford small change like 40- 50k to pay for internet, browse, apply,

2. by carrying him and returning the car, you are seeing other ideas and ways of making money that will be better than sitting at home hoping to get help

3. the money you saved all through your life before pop. you can know ways of investing it. go to construction companies like hitech and apply to supply materials

4. you meet educated rich influenced nigerians in the rich mans house who may help you with vital information. my guy started like that. he read biz admin. todat hes a driver in mobil. 250k

5. you dont pay transport. sometimes they feed you. you can take weekend courses that will improve your profile. but the trouble is in getting chance on week days to write exams and interviews. you have to find a way around that.

6. as long ad youve left the house, your moral wont be as down. you will meet other hustling guys and you can still be happy. opportunities you dont plan for meet you when you have made a move to go outside. I cant sit here and write everything that can happen. buy sitting at home kills the spirit. makes you sad. cant even toast girls again. just go out.

When I see pictures of corpers flying around the social media showing off their NYSC certificate , at some time , I began to wonder if it is an employment letter they are showing off .

My advise to prospective corpers is to engage in any skill acquisition . As the OP rightly said , the world is not a bed of roses . You may not know where your skill will lead you to .

I missed my service year but I didn't fail to utilize my time at home . By God's grace , I'll be serving this year meanwhile I'm already earning an average of #300,000 monthly sitting at home and blogging .
