SORRY FOR THE DELAY.

As said earlier, he was a great gospel musician. All his songs were sang in the Ikale (Ondo state) dialect and intonation.

As a well recognised musician in the land, he was also well known in his church...in Lagos.

Although he was not living large at all till he died.

But the circumstance that surrounded his death was so mysterious...it was said that during a journey outside Lagos, he got missing perhaps it was believed that he had died in the auto accident that was caused by a fuel tanker, and possibly burnt to death along with other co-travellers.

The accident was so several that no one escaped, and none of the victim could be recognised...they all burnt to ashes.

And the shepherd of the Lagos church where he worshiped before he died took it upon himself to continue to cater for his family...in fact they went ahead to sponsor his son (Lekan Amos, also a gospel musician now) through music school since he also showcase a good talent in gospel music like his late dad.

As time passes, the shepherd died, but prior to his death, he had instructed his would-be successor to take charge of a secret deal within the church premises... and truly the second in command continued.

But sooner after taking over from the late shepherd, he too also became ill under a strange occurrence... his children won't want to lose their dad so soon and they decided to go the extra mile to find a cure to their father's life-threatening sickness that had surpassed medical knowledge.

And in their findings, they were told that there is a secret which was passed to their father, and until their father reveal this secret, he shall never recover.

All the children gathered next to their father's bedside, and persuaded him...but lo and behold their dad later confessed...he said that the late shepherd used that late gospel musician for money ritual. And perhaps it was because of nemesis the first shepherd died, and same thing could be the reason for the present illness of the new shepherd. And he further confessed that the late gospel singer did not perished in the said fire accident, but was still alive in the cupboard dolling out cool money...in the same bedroom... inside the church where the man was confessing.

Asked if they may open the cupboard to see the musician, he said Yes! And after they summoned courage to open it, they met the musician in a fearful state.....he had a big calabash on his head, while kneeing down crying....and at a scream of shock from the children, the musician fell to the ground, the calabash broke, and he died immediately. But despite this confession, the second shepherd of the sick bed couldn't get well, he later died too.

Mind you when it was first rumoured that the musician perished in an accident involving the fuel tanker, his family members had carried out a burial on his absence...that is they cut a banana tree-stem long enough to the height of the supposed dead musician, wrapped it with a piece of white cloth, placed it in a casket and buried it.

But now that the blown breeze had exposed the fowl yansh, the strange issue could have generated into a very serious crisis but thank God for the intervention of their community elders in Ikale (they all hail from the same home town). It was for this sole reason the elders were able to settle the dispute between the three families (the two late shepherds' and the and musician's families).

It took them about eight (cool years before the secret could be exposed.

Here, if by the time the first shepherd had wanted to carry out his ritual, he didn't succeed, he could have publicly branded the musician as evil, or castigate him, or frustrated him at any given time till he see him bid his church farewell.

And same thing is what I am sensing in the OP's post.

Have a lovely Monday.

I just reread the particular chapter in Silas Marner, the problem was not even the ostracism per se (which was implied but not actually described, my bad), but the presumption of guilt and refusal to believe his innocence.

In addition, the lots were cast and also proclaimed him guilty, then his intended wife also married his best friend.

So he left.
How accurate can lots be anyway? Just by lots Silas' destiny was thrown into chaos. Thank God for the baby which God brought to him at last.
It's been years I read that book. Maybe I should download a Pdf version and read again.

When your pastor in church becomes your arch enemy trying to see you go down, turning church members against you, spreading unwholesome things about you and you have done everything possible to find out what you did wrong but the pastor refused to talk to you, even when some people try mediating, the pastor cunningly dodge the matter, please what would you do?

Get out of that church immediately because you are receiving a curse in place of blessing. The priest is to bless you not to curse you.

To things that if you notice you must leave your church immediately: when you don't believe in your pastor - you can't be blessed by him. When he doesn't believe in you - you can't be blessed by him. The reason to be in church is to be blessed

Did you read the post at all?
Read it again maybe you will understand
What she's saying is you have not given us the full details about your issue with the pastor, and there are 2 sides to every story.

I did everything i could to get an audience with someone i could easily see b4 now but presently he's obviously avoiding me even my emails has not been replied which is very unusual of him
My purpose of trying endlessly to see him is to ask what my offence was and duly apologise
What else do you think i should do?

He is not God. Leave him alone. Are you going to church to worship him? If you feel you can't remain under his ministration then leave because it is spiritually unhealthy that you and the shepherd of the flock are not in one spirit

When Jesus come, him go stand, you go stand. That time, him no go stand as your pastor. Him go stand to answer him own. Ah.

You should move on for your own safety.

Or at least stop going until you have sorted the matter out.

Usually, most pastor complaints on nairaland tend to be obviously way out there, but this matter seems serious, and there might be more to it than meets the eye. Perhaps the pastor cannot talk to you because of reasons beyond his control.

Your best bet is to stay away for now imo.

Stop beating yourself up over the matter.

If not for the mercy of God, he'd have been a goner for sure.

His ailment and his trusting nature did not help him with the church.

Casting lots might have been considered standard practice perhaps, back then.

The book is readily available online.

Am interested in your topic
please note the following:
1. i assume your pastor is actually called by God to lead His people
2. i assume you are born again
3. i assume you are committed not only to but also in that church
4. i assume you truly desire a solution

i have read the numerous responses to your post and its quite amazing that so many think leaving that church is the outright solution shocked
i have the following points for you to consider:
1. leaving that church is NOT the solution because facing persecution even from brethren is part of what we expect as Christians

John_15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Furthermore, do you know if the new church you are planning to run to is not worse? How many churches will you run away from? Better you face the problem and grow from it. Persecutions are not allowed by God for your destruction rather they should make you stronger and more deeply rooted in God's assured love.

2.rather than consider running away, why not pray and ask for directions because your presence in that church is not accidental, it has a divine purpose

3. the bible has a laid down procedure to resolve disputes

Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Matt 18:15 - 17 (KJV)

4. My candid advise is you follow these procedures which you have started but there are two more steps you have not taken. Bro, please never leave out prayers in this matter and try as much as possible to free your mind from bitterness and anger, its not quite easy but with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can do it.

Shalom
