A Quick Summary On The Massive Protest By The Students Of Unibadan by Nobody: 11:29am On May 03, 2016
It's no longer news that the students of the prestigious university of Ibadan have been on an indefinite vacation since last tuesday, that's a week ago.

To those of you that do not know what really went down. Here's a brief summary of what's really happening.

The situation of the school has really become unbearable for the students, no power supply, no water supply, some students were being overly exploited by their hall porters making them pay undue fines and one of the student popularly known as Mote was also rusticated for 1 semester, all these led to a massive protest. Here's how it went:

On tuesday, around 1 am students in Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall popularly know has zik hall and the students in Independence hall started a massive protest, they went around the campus instigating other students also. The protest became so intense making them close down the school gate. No lectures were held that day.

The management of the school, met and decided the students should proceed on an indefinite vacation until the management can profer a solution to the problem. It was announced by the VC himself Prof. Abel Olayinka at about 2pm, that the students were expected to vacate all halls of residence and the school environment on or before 4pm.

According to his statements, the VC said "A student was rusticated for a semester by the Student Disciplinary Committee(SDC), which he should have been expelled, for gross misconduct. That was why the National Association Of Nigerian Students(NANS) south west Zone came here(the school) with students from the Polytechnic Ibadan, Federal College Of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan and Ladoke Akintola University, and infiltrated the school premises, threatening the peace and stability of the University. So as to avoid the school to be turned into a war zone and in the interest of every one, the students should go home". He also said the students should go on sabbatical leave to enjoy 24 hours power supply at home.

Hopefully, the senate will meet today, so as to know how to settle things and decide when the students are to resume back to school.

Stay tuned for more updates...
