Presidency officials including ministers are studying the budget details submitted by the panel constituted to address the grey areas noticed in the fiscal document, Daily Trust has gathered.
Sources in the presidency said copies of the document which were submitted at the early hours of Tuesday have been made available to ministers and other members of the executive for, “final scrutiny” before assent by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was gathered last night that at the beginning of the scrutiny, the presidency officials have raised issues over some items.
The budget processes have been back and forth following the inclusion of N40billion projects in works ministry, 386 projects in agriculture ministry and the removal of Lagos-Calabar rail, among others by the National Assembly.
A source in the presidency who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they were working hard to enable the President assent the budget this week.
“We have received a copy for preview. Ministers will look at what they have done so that it will be agreed fully that this is what will be presented. What we have is the preview copy, not the final copy that will be forwarded,” he said.
He said the grey areas “are being eliminated one by one. And Nigerians will be happy when the budget is passed. They are being eliminated and reduced. It will be a budget for Nigeria made by Nigerians.”
Another presidency source said the new errors discovered are being addressed jointly by the executive and legislature.
The source declined to disclose the errors but said he was optimistic that the new errors would be trashed out today.
In a telephone interview at the end of a meeting of the budget panel, the Senate Leader Ali Ndume said all the grey areas had been addressed.
“We have concluded our job at the joint committees of the presidency and National Assembly on the budget. We have succeeded in ironing out the grey areas. Now, what is left is for us to produce clean copies for the president to sign,” he said by 10pm yesterday.
He also denied that the report of their committee had been rejected.

cheesy cheesy, Yes ooo, Cunning man die, cunning man bury am.

We know those lawbreakers would still want to do some mago mago and want to use emotional blackmail on the president, Nigerians already don get superhuman patience already, it will be unjust to get a budget that will not be implementable....

All these their talk that their whole communities depend on them for stipends won't wash anymore, if they stop inserting "grey areas", living less ostentatious lifestyles, pass bills that will help Nigerians, there would be less poverty in the land & the expectation won't be that much...... angry

the roller-coaster-like movement the budget passage has undergone points to the fact that these miscreants called lawmakers have overtime made our budget constantly 'grayed' (padding , infusion, etc) and the reason for the signature shabby implementation we usually have.
It has never been this good before.
