According to NTA news bullettin tonight, the APC was designed by some Nigerians that were formerly in diaspora.
The President inspected the APC with some other government officials and later pledged patronage.
This should be sustained to encourage other Nigerians.
Re: Yar'adua Inspects Nigeria-made Armoured Personnel Carrier by Fhemmmy: 9:24pm On Aug 13, 2009
Let us see the patronage first.
Yar'Dumb regime is good in talking and nothing to back it up

Re: Yar'adua Inspects Nigeria-made Armoured Personnel Carrier by wirinet(m): 11:40am On Aug 14, 2009
Armoured Personnel Carrier ko, Armoured Aircraft Carrier ni. Those scraps of metal on wheels is a joke, the tires look like ordinary dunlop tires( i hope they are not tokumbo), while the exposed tank will be good for target practice ( I hope they have extra armour).

It is a nice attempt sha.

A bit of credit will do - dont u think they have thought about those possibilities

My favourite part of this fantastic design are the high security bonnet straps!

Just think that a terrorist would have a great deal of problem disabling the engine and leaving the people in side a sitting target  grin grin grin

@thor

It is called a prototype - I am sure improvements will follow

The guys showed some industry by at least attempting to build an APC with local products, however, there is no need to re invent the wheel,
all Naija needs to do is take a good APC and reverse engineer it. That's an easier and cheaper way to do this. Instead of building that joke from scratch. All you need to do is some rifle shots at those tires,
Perhaps a job with DIC might be in order for the brothers if we really are serious about an APC
Re: Yar'adua Inspects Nigeria-made Armoured Personnel Carrier by GEW: 12:03pm On Aug 14, 2009

It was locally made in Ekiti state and it is:
Bullet proof
Bomb proof

It has:
Toyota hilux mounted with a survelliance camera that sends video to the Carrier

But it is just an armoured car.
an APC have bombs, guns, missiles this nothing

Kudos,

Mr. Go-Slow (Yar'Adua) should include innovation among his 7 point agenda.

The only fear i have for this APC is the tyre that may be deflated with rain of bullets.

That armored snack truck is a work of genius, Thor, and with Yar Agoduam serving up those quarter pounders, those highwaymen will be mown down the minute they reach down to scarf on thier first order of fries.

I still think Lamentation Suya ought to have featured on the menu board though.

I am totally dissappointed with most of the posters here. Your fellow countrymen design a prototype apc, a vehicle designed to save lives, and a product that could creat job opportunities. Yet you idiots mock their handiwork. What have you idiots contributed to country? And why don't u go and make your own apc? Let's see how you fair.

And if I may add, list any sub-saharan african country that has designed and produced its own vehicle, then get back to me.

It's because of morons like u that nigeria stagnates. Stay there and laugh @ ur fellow nigerian. And u wonder why other countries look down on us. Bloody fools.
