Bauchi State governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has asked the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and related organizations in the country to support the presidency for taking “a bold step” to transform the economy and shun their plans to embark on strike over the removal of fuel subsidy.

The governor pointed out that the government’s decision would save the nation nearly a trillion naira that was spent last year in the name of subsidy to provide the needed infrastructure.

Abubakar made the appeal in the wake of an ultimatum issued by the labour leaders, asking the federal government to rescind its decision to deregulate the downstream sector of the petroleum which resulted in the increase of the price of the commodity to N145 a litre.
