Mr President should quietly do the needful and go to russia and fmr oviet republics like belarus and place an order for subtantial units of pre owned and brandnewsu 25 frogfoot ground attack air crft ,it costs less than 10million dollars I e the brand new ones ,its spare parts are manufactured in russia so the threat of losin our planes due to laack of spare parts is minimal to say the least ,it has a proven track record of exceptional performance from afghanistan to syria do u know this plane can run on untreated kerosine ? Do u knw it can opeerate frm unpaved runways? I wil alwys wil maintain my stance that when it comes to weaponry for our military our gvt should look east! Natios lik china , north korea ,russia ad even india. For once we shuld learn from what britain did to us when we purchased sepecat jaguar ets from BAE , those jets had shortest service lifespan in the history of NAF allbcos britain placed an arms embargo on nigeria

President Buhari said Boko Haram no longer holds any Nigerian territory.

So what does Buhari need US armed helicopters for, if not to attack and kill off Nigerian groups who may rise to ask for political reforms?

Above all, why is outgoing President Obama now hurrying to sell arms to Buhari? Is there anything holding Buhari an Islamic extremist and Obama in common as to warrant selling arms to Buhari to continue his Jihad?

Buhari said he wouldn't stop until sharia Islamic Sharia Criminal laws are practiced all over Nigeria.

Will you trust the western press more than you would trust the devil. Quick to lay bare the sins of perceived enemies and those who don't agree with western ideals like support for LBGT.

They will never see anything wrong in the crimes of the US Army in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

How many military brutality have been excused as friendly fire, self defence, provocation and even unlawful infringement of a country's sovereignty.

The fools here especially Knightstempler are nothing but anti-Nigeria and should be hanged for even promoting an obnoxious campaign to sign a petition against our government. The level of ignorance on Nairaland is truly amazing at times, people blame Buhari for defaming Nigerians abroad, they blamed Cameron for calling the country fantastically corrupt yet are quick to sign a petition against their president and country for military aide. It's truly amazing! Whether you are APC, PDP or XYZ, there's nothing greater than patriotism, you all keep blaming the government for your failures and your pathetic lives but let me ask a simple question, who or what makes up the government or politicians? Are they not Nigerians? The average Nigerian would steal if he knew there were little to no chances of him/her being caught! The average Nigerian would rather bribe or take shortcuts if it would result in unfair advantage over his/her peers. The average Nigerian would watch his/her father, mother, aunty, uncle, brother or sister continue to steal money at a company or a government post and keep silent as long as that person is taking good care of him/her. A lot of you are graduates out there but school won't teach you morals, education doesn't mean you are enlightened and success doesn't always mean you are wise. Blame Buhari all you want but before that, take a good look in the mirror and see your "FANTASTICALLY CORRUPT" image!

America has allegedly refused selling fighter jets to Nigeria, sighting human rights violations as the reason for the refusal. Nigerians in their usual defensive attitude are deflecting all the blame from our Military and unduly attacking the USA (verbally at least).

Some claim that America simply dislikes Nigeria because of our anti gay stance, others have gone to the extreme to claim America wants to see Nigeria - the potential threat to America's Hegemony in Africa - disintegrate.

Everytime America endorses Nigeria we all rejoice but we never ever learn from their criticisms. Be it when they criticised us for sentencing adults to 14 years in jail for their sexual orientation, to when they asked Abacha to release Ken Sarowiwa. America to many Nigerians is an obnoxious, morally bankrupt country that cannot criticise infallible Nigeria.

However, there is need to ask one critical question. Is the Nigeria Army really culpable of human right abuses? The obvious answer is Yes, and unless we wish to continue lying to ourself, we must accept this fact. Denying it will not only endorse such behaviours as acceptable but also reinforce it amongst our security agencies.

For example, a few weeks ago Nigerian soldiers physical manhandled a lawyer in Festac for asking them (politely) to move their truck allow Road users free movement . I am also sure that every Nigerian that has lived in Nigeria for at least 5 years, can narrate at least one account of human right abuses and excessive use of force by the Nigerian Army and the police.

Abuse of power by state security agencies is a form of corruption. Like our dear president said, If we don't kill all forms of corruption, it will kill us

More befuddling is the dispositions of our so-called educated youths. Where is our objectivity in analyzing people's opinion about our nation? Must the nation sink because Jonathan lost the last election?

From the reactions I am getting from Nigerians on social medias on negative publications against our government and people by foreign medias, I am tempted to and have no other option than to believe that average Nigerians are suffering from a severe psychological disorder of inferiority complex if not I see no reason why we trust foreign reports about ourselves much more than what is obtainable within us.

I weep for this generation!

How so sad but true.

This is the same people during GEJ that wailed because America refused to sell to Nigeria, now America has changed her mind, we are wailing they shouldn't sell to Nigeria.

The question is, if GEJ had bought those war planes then wouldn't PMB still make use of them now?

Without Bokoharam, Nigeria would've saved trillions and there wouldn't have been opportunity for PDP chieftains and allied parties to dupe Jonathan billions in a bid to secure a second term victory. And probably APC wouldn't have match Atiku's dollars with Amaechi and Tinubu's dollars to give Buhari a comparative lead.

They planned and executed the mission "Bokoharam" and the US gave them green light against Goodluck Jonathan and it worked.

Unfortunately, Buhari will not repeal the gay law as promised by APC before the elections hence US will continue the destructive game and attack on Nigeria.

To those that cheered America when they were implementing the covert operations against Nigeria can now have their heads examined because it's not over until Nigeria is finally destroyed.

Please where do you get these facts abi story from........

Whether you believe it or not, it happened

Buhari In Secret Meeting With Northern Leaders, Urged To Pay Off Buhari, Tinubu And Other Demands

The details of a secret meeting between newly sworn-in President Muhammadu Buhari and some northern leaders have been revealed. The meeting took place at the presidential villa on Saturday night, 30th May, 2015.

These northern leaders told Buhari not to make the kind of mistake Dr Jonathan made by not massively developing the Niger Delta.

They asked Buhari to treat the north, mostly north-west and north-east like every day is his last day in office, citing the long absence of a northerner at the helm of affairs.

The Nigerian President was inaugurated at the Eagles Square in Abuja, on May 29, 2015.

Buhari, 72, defeated Goodluck Jonathan in March 28 elections — the first time in Nigeria’s history that an opposition candidate had beaten a sitting president.

An insider and attendee at the nocturnal meeting who demanded anonimity, squeaked to www.Elombah.com that the northern leaders made eight demands from Buhari, including:

1. Appointment of core northern Muslims in to key positions in the country.

2. Extra financial support for the 19 northern states.

3. Amnesty for Boko Haram, so that it would be an avenue to empower northern youths.

4. To establish a world class petroleum university in Katsina state.

5. To build another refinery in Kano state.

6. To pay off Tinubu and Amaechi for sponsoring his campaign, so that his presidency can be truly a northern presidency.

7. To place Ankio Briggs and Asari Dokubo on DSS watch list, seize their passports, because they can turn the Niger Delta region against his presidency.

8. And lastly they asked him not to honour the gay agreement between his party (APC) and the western countries.
Sources said Buhari agreed to try his best in the first seven demands, but he is not so sure of the last demand which is the gay agreement with western countries, because he is scared they would fight him, destabilize his government, and possibly edge him out like they did to Dr Jonathan.

The meeting had in attendance, Governors El Rufai, Aminu Masari, Abdulahi Ganduje of Kano, and Ibrahim Shehu Shema of Katsina respectively.
Others are Atiku Abubakar, Ibrahim Coomassie, Adamu Ciroma, Yusuf Maitama Sule, and Muhammad Danjuma Goje.

Meanwhile Aides of President Buhari, yesterday, explained why the president did not declare his assets publicly. They said he will make his assets known to Nigerians within the first 100 days of his stay in power in line with his pledge before the election.

Mixed reactions followed yesterday, on the report that the president and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had submitted their assets declaration to the Code of Conduct Bureau without immediately making them public.

A civil rights group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, argued that it was imperative for the duo to make public their assets. It said the action will indicate “their desire and commitment to ending corruption in the country.”

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on its part, said it would allow Buhari to settle down for governance before taking him to task on his campaign promises.
However, some notable Nigerians disagreed over call for the public declaration of assets by the president and his vice president.

very very welcome and applaudable development. The US got this right. Selling such lethal sophisticated weapons to a highly irresponsible and genocidal military is totally unacceptable. I hope a UN backed veto is also put in place to block any such purchase from other countries.

The WARPLANES are not for Boko Haram. They say they have defeated them.

The WARPLaNES are not for murderous Fulani herdsmen. Not a single one is in jail for killings in Agatu and everywhere else. They killed another twenty people a day or so ago.

The WARPLANE is to kill southerners as Buhari and co say GEJ and IHEJIRIKA killed Northerners. They are THE EQUALIZERS

The WARPLANES are to kill minorities. It is to take out communities in the Niger Delta where militants are suspected to reside.

Militants of the Niger Delta are not an army like Boko Haram. They have not seized any territories. They are a group of young men of no more than 150 with guns and explosives.

They do not even kill anyone

WARPLANES are not needed to take out 100 or so boys. The army and Navy have enough to recon and chase criminals in the creeks

Death from the air is not needed against a GANG of boys.

Same way America stopped Ghadafi from using air attack against his people, America must not only DESIST from selling WARPLANES to Buhari, they must compel him to dialogue with angry groups and find lasting peace

Sign the petition. Sign it nowwwww.

Get others to sign

We have a limited time to hit 100,000 and get Obama to respond to us as required by American protocol.
may you live long . you said my mind some don't understand these " I will crush Niger delter militant " that machine is his hope and confidence. they must stop him at all cost

Have they forgotten what their marines did in Haditha(Iraq).

It's only a government headed by an Islamic president that can sell weapons to President Muhammadu Buhari of known bent to extreme Islam.

This is how the US armed Afghanistan which consequently gave rise to arming the Taliban which trained Al-Qaeda.

This is how the US armed Sadam Hussein who oppressed the Kurds and was using chemical weapons and US fighters to spread the chemical weapons on the Kurds.

Today, the Kurds are helping the US fight ISIS which rose from crisis in Iraq

Buhari is an intolerant and old Muslim extremist.
Nigeria has no enemy neighbours.

If Obama is arming Buhari, sure Obama is arming Buhari against US interests; because the arms may end up in the hands of the enemies of the US.

Boko Haram hast gone since Buhari won presidential election. We know why.

Even Buhari confirmed that Boko Haram is gone.

One way in which black communities in America and the UK lost the ability to influence government and became disempowered was the media empowerment of ghetto folks. Suddenly the small enlightened black middle classes, like our politicians, became demonized. In the USA and UK cases, the enlightened black middle classes that could have influenced the provision of the right amenities for their black communities were demonised as pretentious sell-outs. In effect, the white media created a divide between the mass of black's and their black leadership. The media then made the rap artists and ordinary people without political or social sophistications, spokespersons and the ones determining how the black community would be represented. In Africa, the strategy has been to demonise leadership and create the divide between rulers and ruled through highlighting corruption and despotism. This is not to say these African leadership were not corrupt or despotic, but to point out how the division between leadership and governed in the black world is poisoned.

To cut to the chase, you're beginning to see the repercussion of a bitter rift between leadership and citizenship in Nigeria. This is happening but you won't quite believe it. Social media is empowering the people and leadership is ever slowly becoming self-conscious and apologetic under the barrage from judgmental Western media. Now, while some may think, 'Wow, but this is what we want, power of the people, for the people and all that stuff’ the very essence of democracy. But see, this is the biggest lie at the heart of democracy. You see, just as Orwell exposed the hypocrisy at the heart of communism, capitalism is also hypocritical. In one sense, Orwell also exposed this hypocrisy in capitalism because the hypocrisy in communism highlighted in Animal Farm was that communism suffers the same flaws as capitalism. The hypocrisy in capitalism comes from the fact that it firmly entrenches a hierarchical structure. It recognises that no system functions without the hierarchy of leaders and led, exploiters and exploited but yet denounces this in literature and pushes and idealised form of power to the people to third world nations.

The difficulty with peoples power lies in the fact that for any given state, any given time, 90% of the people are never as enlightened as 10% of the people. Moreover, divisions are magnified in majority of the people at any given time. Also it has to be taken on fate that the enlightened, by more or less a process of evolution, will rise to the top. If the majority of the people, especially if unsophisticated, become the force for what rains, what becomes the order of things, then you're bleeped, pardon the expression.

On Niraland the majority of the people, especially in politics, seem tribalistic and hateful and believe that this attitude is core sense and folks like you naive. They have the power and thus nonsense rains supreme.
