It is a period of Godly preparation for the actual union between a man and a woman for the purpose of companionship and procreation. The common features are, cross-learnings and acquintance to opposite sex, assurance of marriage, plannings for marriage, mutual prayers and word study.

Also, it is a period of intense marriage based information gathering, cross family visits and investigations to know more about family issues... It marks the period of serious preparation for wedding and marriage.

It is also a time for realignment or adjustment of certain behavioural dispositions to suit the accommodation of the would-be spouse.

It is a time to ascertain the purposes and functions of spouses in marriage. It is also a time for self questioning as to whether one is fit for those purposes and functions.

Most importantly, pastors and Church members usually know of such relationship in the case of courtship, but, otherwise in the case of dating.

Nothing fantastic about dating, it is a frame of time for ungodly acts, and deceptions can be much pronounced. In most cases, two daters dont define their relationship ab initio. Their love journeys dont have destinations.

Every Godly sister must ask a brother to define his relationship with her at the outset of the intention exposure. Dating does not consider this.

Courtship starts between two members of opposite sex in the body of Christ. Mark you, they must be spiritually mature and convinced that they are meant for each other. And most times such convinction is confirmed by at least one third party who is usually their spiritual leader (pastor).

Human beings of the same sex "male-male", female-female" can even practice dating, but, it is an abomination in courtship.

Therefore, my submission is, Christians should not go into dating. But, spiritually get engaged to a sound and mature opposite sex; with convinctions that both are meant for each other and sanctioned by their pastors.

Then, commencement of courtship that will lead to marriage proper can start.
