FUEL PRICE HIKE: An Indirect Taxation On Nigerians? by whytetyre: 9:17am On May 26, 2016 |
I have been finding it hard to believe the purported removal of subsidy on PMS, until Mr Lai Mohammed further confirmed my suspicion, by saying that, it is because Nigeria is broke. Is it that, the government cannot pay the subsidy again? If this is the reason, has the government been paying subsidy this year, on fuel, even when it was being sold at 87 naira? When last did the FG pay subsidy, and for which period? Or is it a form of taxing Nigerians on each litre of fuel? The truth must be told. |

Its clearly an indirect tax on Nigerians, imagine 40 millions litres consumed a day and multiply that by the excess profit the govt is making. They told us that they have hont been paying subsidy and later said they are paying N12, now add N12 to 86.5 and subtract it from 145. They difference is what Nigerian poor masses are paying to the govt daily. And they use this money to fly around the world, buy brand new vehicles, buy book worth billions of naira that you can't find in our schools. The govt must come out truthfully and explain things to Nigerians. 1 Like |

Someone has described this situation we are in as STAG-FLATION. The economy is stagnant just as there is inflation. One year into the BUHARI administration. Congratulations? |

There is fuel tax in Europe, UK, Canada and majority of the countries of the world. US produce 9million barrel per day of oil, Canada produce about 4million barrel of oil per day. Nigeria struggle to produce 2million barrel of oil per day. |

Still waiting to see how this government will make life meaningful for the common man, while each passing day comes with gnashing of teeth and weeping. |
