Ebonyi IGR Hits N1bn Monthly-Commissioner

— Jan 23, 2015 12:48 pm | 2 CommentsMr Timothy Odah, Ebonyi Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, says the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has risen to N1 billion monthly, from the previous figure of N150 million.Odah, who is also the Chairman, Commissioners for Finance Forum, disclosed this on Friday in Abuja, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).Odah said the improvement was as a result of economic measures adopted by the state government in order to reduce dependence on the monthly revenue from the Federation Account.“Today, Ebonyi has three rice mills and the milled rice is in high demand. We never thought that something made in Nigeria will attract such high demand.“We also have an international market which has 7070 stores; and we generate a lot of revenue by renting them out to international and local businesses.“Ebonyi is doing well in terms of generating its own power supply. We have brought the General Electric from the United States and it will soon generate electricity for the state.“We may not be able to use all of it, so we plan to transfer the remaining to the National Grid and get a commission,” he said.Odah expressed concern over the financial difficulties some states are facing due to the dwindling oil revenue.“It’s a pathetic situation. But the fact remains that the clarion call has always been made. We have been sounding the warning telling states to prepare.“We have been calling on the need for diversification. That we should go towards alternative forms of revenue generation instead of depending on the dwindling oil revenue.“It is time for oil to stop being a key determinant of our budget from local to federal levels,’’ he said. Odah also said that apart from government, every individual had a role to play in boosting the country’s economy.“As a whole, Nigerians should learn to patronise made-in-Nigeria products. Nigerian rice, Nigerian oats and leave foreign chicken alone.“Palm wine is good. It should be bottled. Also Nigerian food has better taste; we should eat more of it. Stop looking for Chinese and other continental dishes,” he said.According to Odah, doing this may seem small, “but it will translate to a lot of jobs and better living, which is the end game of diversification.’’ (NAN)

@Op u re still a learner in propaganda.
So Ebonyi an abadoned state get more allocation than
ogun with the 5th highest IGR in Nigeria
for information Nigerian state have 2 source of revenue allocation and IGR, example Lagos have average allocation of 5 billion and average IGR of 20 billion thus making average of Lagos to about 25 billion monthly. Therefore ogun might have more igr than ebonyi but ebonyi might have allocation due huge debt that Ogun owe

Why are you bent on arguing with everyone?

Yes the Federal Government owes most states in many ways eg some states used their state money to build/fix Federal roads and are yet to be reimbursed or fully reimbursed. Don't make it look as if it's only Ogun State that the Federal Government is indebted to.

Even Akwa Ibom State with the highest Federal Government Revenue is being owed by the Federal Government.

The reason why some state revenues are relatively low is because of the bail out funds and other funds they borrowed from the Federal Government.

Also don't forget the 13% derivation funds that oil states enjoy.

OkoNDOoBo:

The list is not from credible source ,FG is owing ogun state more than 10bn and am sure the bailout fund is not up to that

Do your best to ignore the FAAC revenue.

Osun is doing better than a lot of states. Monthly financial obligations are being met, several massive projects are ongoing thanks to the sagacity of the governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

Compared to other states, do you know that Osun owes onlt one month in Salaries.

As at April 25, it was owing One month. With the recent payment of March salaries, it now owes only April as of today.

The facts speaks for themselves. Osun's total loan has been restructured by the FG, hence the reason you seen billions accruing to the state. States like Ekiti, Ebonyi, Osun, Imo and several others who didn't restructure there loans still receiving billions in FAAC allocations, but t hey get deducted by the various banks.

Aregbesola is wise by managing the state in such a responsible manner, yet some people want him to inaugurate the state executive council that will be draining the state millions of naira in salaries, bonus and entitlements every months.

Bro, try again do some research via Google before tackling some of these yee.bos so they can keep quiet and not use you to play ludo. FG has admitted owing Ogun N222-billion (which translates to more than 1- billion dollars, Ogun owes less than $200-million in debt) for fixing all the Federal roads that are within the state's border coz it is a gateway state -- which is partly why her debt is so high in the first place. That amount is the highest owed any state in Nigeria by far.

http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/03/23/fg-owes-states-n580-5bn-for-roads-rehabilitation/

That is more than enough to cover any debt with enogh change sef. Ogun is obviously not waiting for the Fg to pay her what they owe before paying her debts which is why the state asked the FG to deduct certain amounts from her allocations monthly. That Anambra village champion tackling you is an illiterate who thrives on ignorance of folks who don't have their facts so please next time do your homework and put his likes in his place.

Mercyville, editor123. That Anambra iliterate you are exchanging words with is not worth the stress.

Lol. That fellow has never been to Ife in Osun which is more developed than the entire Ebonyi, not to talk of Oshogbo. He is a very ignorant bigot. He is fond of highlighting old settlement parts of the SW while propping up SE GRA as proof that his region which his people are fleeing from in droves is better than the SW -- he will only show such pictures of Akure, Ogun, Ibadan, etc.

And just because Ebonyi state governor is tarring a few roads in parts of the state he is running amock spewing trash. Na so Dem hype Abia state too when the current governor started tarring roads, as if the place don turn to London, but it's the same SE people that expose their own cosmetic fraud. Lol.
