3 BEST WAYS TO RESCUE YOUR PHONE WHEN FELL INTO WATER
Your phone just fell into water, warranty doesn’t cover water damages, don’t be scared you are just in the right place to rescue your valuable phone. Even though the phone might seem dead, there are still chances of resuscitating it.
Smart phone by simple definition is a gadget that aids our day to day activities, either for our businesses, entertainment, stay close to friends and families, social media and much more. This simply means this gadget is always close to us, it’s very close to our hand.
The importance of our mobile phone makes it vulnerable to water contamination, sometimes when we are in toilet ,almost everybody are in this category – when we are in the toilet our phone keeps our company, toilet is always boring but with mobile phone you can enjoy your stay in toilet even though toilet isn’t a place of enjoyment.
Sometimes our daily routines can make our phone vulnerable of this condition, like someone that works in water Cooperation Company, sea ports, and fishery etc. working in all this aforementioned places your phone is liable to fall in water consciously or unconsciously. More so when eating, drinking or playing our phone can fall in to water, which is very bad for our phone life span.
Many mobile phone are so invaluable in the sense that they are just priceless not because of the price of the phone but because of the phone functions from contacts, notes, files on storage and many more ,losing such mobile will be very painful.
But am here to give you to-do lists when your phone fell in water:
Your phone just fell in water, don’t be panic, stay calm I knew your phone is iPhone 6s, lumia phone, Android phone, these are very expensive, the very first thing you need to do is to RESCUE the phone, yes you need to rescue the phone as soon as possible in a space of seconds you need to be on a rescue mission instead of screaming or shouting. Even if it’s in the toilet, rescue the phone and clean your hand later.
Don’t use alcohol to clean the phone, because alcohol is a solvent and can dissolve the internal adhesives, but If its toilet you can use alcohol to clean the case of the phone to disinfect it.
If the phone fell into SALT water, after you have rescued the phone, rinse it fresh water.
Shake it off, remove the sim(s), memory card and the battery of the phone immediately and shake off the phone to let some water out of the phone , you need to do this vigorously to remove at least 65% of the water then use the a towel to dry the phone. If your battery is non –removable battery, like we have in some android phones, iPhones and many others, you need to do this as well. after shaking it well, your battery is out or non –removable battery , kindly resist the POWER URGE and don’t allow the water to evaporate manually and that is why you need to move to the next stage.
Drying , here we have three(3) different methods
Rice drying
Silica gel parking
Manual drying
Rice drying method: yes rice, this method is fast, reliable and almost readily available. If you can unscrew the phone, do that to open the panel of the phone, this is not for everyone because it’s not everybody that can unscrew the mobile phone or some mobile phone are not easy to unscrew, if you can unscrew the phone, remove the panel and clean with a towel gently, I mean gently to wipe the water on the panel. Then put the panel (if the phone is unscrewed), battery and its component or the phone (if not unscrew), battery and its components buried into uncooked rice in a plastic and leave for 48hours. After 48hrs. Your phone should be back on. Don’t worry about the rice staining your phone or panel with its particles during the process but if you are worried
SILICA PARKING will help you out.
Silica gel parking: this method involves getting silica gel that often comes with new shoes, bags or clothes, 8-10 silica gel will be enough, just put the phone and its component in a colorless nylon and park it with slica gel for 48hours.
Both the rice and silica gel method are desiccant to wick away any leftover moisture.
Manual drying : this is the method mostly used by Nigerian engineers, here we need to dry the phone thoroughly ,the best device to dry the phone is hair dryer, use this to dry the phone all through , but sometimes in our surroundings hair dryer might not be available,
>> You can use cooking gas to dry out your phone with a blue flame and the phone is place above the flame ,not very close to dry your phone. After 5-7mins your phone should be dry enough.
>> You can also use light box that is very common among our engineers in Nigeria. The light box is made of bulb in box where you can place your phone to dry when the bulb is connected to electricity source. 5-7mins after your phone should be fully dry.
***please don’t try to insert the battery back or try to on the phone.
>>Open the panel: the next thing to do is to open the panel of the phone, this is not for everyone because it’s not everybody that can unscrew the mobile phone or some mobile phone are not easy to unscrew, if you can unscrew the phone, remove the panel and clean with a towel gently, I mean gently to wipe the water on the panel. Then dry the panel with any aforementioned drying techniques (hair dryer, cooking gas, light box).
***Also don’t forget to dry the component on the panel very well, dry the back case and its components, the battery, metal shades, the screen and its component and cool it in a room temperature for about 24hours. After that, screw back your phone and insert your battery to continue enjoying your mobile phone.
*I don’t like this third method because of the drying techniques involve, which might destroy the phone components, the best method is the uncooked RICE method ,silica method isn’t readily available and this make RICE method the best.
