I witnessed an incident last weekend where someone drowned on the beach and was washed ashore. The family of the corpse were alerted and they came to take the body for a proper burial but the people on the beach refused. Their calm was the water god will be angry if the body was taken away.

I don't understand how the '' water god '' will be angry or if a water god exists.

Anyone who knows more should please explain because this traditional to me is silly.
