Where can I get the sim

You can pickup an ntel sim from their office at NECOM House (also referred to as NET Building) 17th Floor 15 Marina, Lagos. Meet with Chinekwe (a sales executive) who will provide you with your reserved sim or new sim; however you must pay for either a N3000 (1 week access) or N10,000 (1 month access) to their network before you can be activated on their network. Sims are free but you can't be given a sim unless you activate.

Ps. I just picked up my sim on wednesday but yet to use same because of low coverage in my area of residence. The list provided above was culled from their website; I am not a staff of ntel or their representative. The list is just to guide those who already have their Sims to test it in those neighbourhoods and comment.

It is not advisable for anyone to pickup their sim yet without having a compatible LTE device and who doesn't mind their current coverage status.

Lack of proper coverage of Lagos is why they are yet to commence sales of Sims in Lagos but I was told at their engineers are working round the clock to ensure that they cover Lagos before middle of June.

Please read my initial post again. The information I passed across was "depicted on their website".

I am not a staff or representative of ntel. I have only picked the information provided from their website to spread it's reach.

I picked up a sim and still can't get reception at UBA end whilst therir office is at the other end of Marina. This just shows that the signal reach isn't much. The list is for those who already have their Sims in Lagos and signals may only be on the streets mentioned in the list and not the entire locality.

Confirm your device supports 4G LTE by checking the mobile network settings. To do this, follow these simple steps:
Insert an ntel SIM into your 4G LTE Device;
Go to Menu;
Go to Settings;
Under Wireless & Networks, select more;
Select Mobile networks;
Select 4G (recommended);

After you have confirmed your device supports 4G LTE, go back to the main menu.
If your device is configured for data over LTE, the device signal display will show.
If the device does not show the signal display, simply follow these steps:

Dial*#*#4636#*#*
Select Phone Information;
Under set preferred network type: Select LTE only;
Click on update.

Go back to your Home screen
Put the phone in airplane mode, after a few seconds, switch off airplane mode
After a few seconds, turn off airplane mode

Got my SIM today... The speed is alot slower than i expected. But i can't exactly blame them. They haven't launched in Lagos yet. Even speedtest shows my location as Abuja.

Anyways...

DEVICE = HUAWEI GR5 (HONOR 5X)

LOCATION = IWAYA, YABA.

NETWORK = 2 BARS (of 4 tho)

It's showing Abuja because the server in the settings is one of those based in Abuja, and they are usually slow. To get the true speed, In Speedtest.net app, go to settings and change the test server to either Vodacom Nigeria business, MainOne cable, Cobranet, Internet solution pty or Smile communications. These servers are based in Lagos, and are quite fast.

No. It is showing my own location as Abuja and then trying to ping servers in Lagos. It's unusual for it to get ur location wrong. It's just like i'm browsing with proxy.

See what i mean in the photos below. The Abuja servers are 'apparently' closer to me than the Lagos ones...

I have personally seen it working on it. Even though the LTE sign was there, it wasn't bringing up signal bar at all, but was still browsing. It behaved the same on an htc one m8, too. We wondered why, but couldn't make sense of it. Mind you, coverage was great where tested, but signal bars were just not coming up.

Ya! I think it'll get better when they launch in Lagos. In my room it's even worse. less than 2Mbps. In my dad's room that's where it gets up to 8Mbps TOPS!
