Ohhh God where did Nigeria come about all the Mallam Adamu and Yakaasi of this world, how will JAMB be sending names to schools for admission when candidates already chose their preferred institutions in the utme form and how else do you want the institutions to screen candidates if not by proper examination

What do they mean by universities are free to screen their students?

Ok universities change the exam name to... After jamb exam screening.

The stupidity everywhere is overwhelming

Screening is after getting your admission letter from JAMB normal checking of your WAEC etc

Post UTME scrapped but universities are allowed to screen candidates send to them?

How are they going to do the screening? Oh! Maybe it is going to be a free screening. VCs will not agree because they make a lot of cash from it
learner ui had oral screening before pume and it worked fine.

The post UME was created by the University of Lagos because Jamb was failing in their responsibility and there was a lot of cheating. You will see that its the Hausa that don't believe in an iota of merit that will say no post UME. Who is this one just coming from nowhere to cancel what has been working. If you're a good student then you should pass the post ume. It's all this pple that want to cheat that don't want post ume. Even abroad after SAT school still somehow screen candidates

Good move by NUC.. Since 2004 they have been making money from this legalized fraud called post UME fee.
Imagine a school with 10,000 candidates @ 5,000 per form gives the school 50million naira per year from post utme alone and this has been going on for 12years (since 2004)that's 600million which is more than half a billion naira.
VC's are one the most corrupt people in Nigeria. If part of this money is being remitted to NUC they Wud never have any reason to scrap it.
EFCC Shud do the needful and stop chasing shadows.

Did you notice the write up? Post UTME remains canceled but Universities r allowed to screen candidates sent to them by jamb.

how dey won take screen the candidates again?

I see indefinite strike looming
the way they have ben screening applicant before the era of pume, no strike would happen because management not ASUU benefit from pume funds grin grin grin

It is a welcome development to stop the act of exploitation by Universities. Moreover, it is will be quite difficult for students from poor background to easily get admitted.I am speaking from experience.
Post-utme started during time. I and my Sister applied to different Universities in Lagos State and were asked to pay #150,000 for hers and #70,000 for mine all in the name of Admission runs by University administrators with or without VC's knowledge.
Fortunately, Post-utme was introduced, we both obtained forms and we passed. We did not pay dime for any admission.
My recommendation is that FG should regulate Post -Utme's fee than scrapping. This idea of scraping gives even Cult guys, miscreants, cleaners, lecturers etc the opportunity to exploit Applicants all in the name of Admission.
FG should rethink

I'm really against this scrapping of Post Utme and allowing Jamb to re-assign students to different instutions

Jamb is likely to assign lots of candidates to private and state owned institutions.. Think about the poor masses who are academically bright and can only afford to pay the fees of the federal owned institutions, what do you expect them to do when assigned to institutions they can't afford?

The goverment should have a re-think! Scrap JAMB! Leave Pume alone!

You can only be assigned to one of the schools you filled in your JAMB form.

Screening means checking of SSCE results, Birth Certificate and other required document necessary for admission.

Scrapping of post UME is a bad ideal ooo..... The best solution is for University to reduce the price of their form, Imagine A university with About 3000 aspirants and their PUME form is #6,500. And they can only admit 800 of them, do the calculation yourself, that's a huge amount of money(you won build house for them). My own option is the reduction in price of these forms atleast 1,500 or 2k is better or better still 1K
