you talk as if graduates are very old individuals...they are youths na..ranging from 18 to like 32 some are still even staying with der parents ...and least the 23k is not for forever...am not saying it's okay, Al am saying is its better than been idle...

This is a welcome development especially to the unemployed Nigerians graduates. They say half bread is better than none! 500,000x23,000 is huge amount of money monthly.

They should keep their 23k for the peasants farmers, not for graduate. A factory work in lagos is even better than than their scheme or whatever. Mtchew.

Its voluntary work and if you know 23k is small you don't need to apply... but govt should try to let people work within dr LGA so dt cost of accommodation and transport will not finish the 23k... People go they form now let the site open you will see over 5million will apply for it..

Ordinary, these trainees would pay to acquire the skills bit they are being trained for free. Don't mistake the scheme for full time white collar employment. It is not an end in itself and any beneficiary who thinks do would lose out. Get the skills, use it to start as an entrepreneur.

23k plus empowerment is OK by me, but we all know that 23k can get tangible thing in market. Transport, feeding will finish the money under 18days at most. Then, we'll talk about rent and clothing. However, it is better than been unemployed.

Paying graduates peanut is the new norm in Nigeria. The government championed this shitty development through NYSC and now, this nonsensical development.
If you spent so much in government institutions and worked really hard all to graduate and be receiving a paltry 23k, then be worried. Will you be able to proceed on Master's, get a babe and talk of family, private apartment and so on with the way tomato prices are currently! Let's think!

Another NYSC program. I know what I pass through during my service year with 19k allowee.

Nice incentive, but in this harsh economy, 23k per month will go nowhere. And since they will be teaching all day, they won't have time to lay hands on other ventures.

They could make this better by providing somewhat free transportation, and maybe take housing costs upon themselves by creating some estates where the teachers will stay. This would make the situation far better.

....that is if the government is actually able to do this in the first place...

You will be surprised at the number of people earning around that figure in Lagos. Saving grace is that they have relatives or parents they can stay with in Lagos.

And u wonder why people are turning to beggar. Even beggars earn 100k per month

if you have what to do that is getting you more than 23k/month this teacher corps is not for you.

If you are unemployed and feel 23k/month is too small, this program is not for you.

If you feel you can't teach in your locality where you won't pay fare, accommodation etc, this scheme is not for you.

See some unemployed graduates feeling like Dangote pikin about earning 23k/month and work experience. Una try.
