An Efik/Ibibio "olabowale",
Is the water in New York really that bad to affect your ability to make any sense in your posts?
I thought I was talking to adults who could reason by reading between the lines? Sorry, I did not know that there are infants and children who dont have grownup thinking cap on.

Finally, not an excuse on my part, but during the day, I have a lot going on, so sometimes, I overlook my writing as I come back to it, being interrupted many times, in the process before I post.

But then we are talking about False prophet and none of the things that the Bible posted that expose false prophet fits Muhammad and not common to Moses, and or any other before him, including Jesus (AS)!

@Jagoon: I guess you made a big time mistake by your accusation!

2 Timothy 4:3-4 declares, For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”

Find out the origin of the Roman Catholic Church in the link below:

Excerpts from the link:
The origin of the Catholic Church is the tragic compromise of Christianity with the pagan religions that surrounded it. Instead of proclaiming the Gospel and converting the pagans, the Catholic Church “Christianized” the pagan religions, and “paganized” Christianity. By blurring the differences and erasing the distinctions, yes, the Catholic Church made itself attractive to the people of the Roman empire. One result was the Catholic Church becoming the supreme religion in the “Roman world” for centuries. However, another result was the most dominant form of Christianity apostatizing from the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and the true proclamation of God’s Word.

Sometimes i wonder if you are really human or just a pre- programmed pentecostal response device who is not capable of reasoning as it is very obvious that you just stick to and pew out all the rubbish being re-gurgigtated by pentecostal charlatans. The above scripture you quoted did you read and understand it at all which group of christians preach what is not sound doctrine that people want to hear[prosperity gospel] is it not your deluded penterascal sect? Which group twist the scriptures the most [whilst claiming holy spirit knowledge] for the sake of filthy lucre. O boy go and get a mirror and do some serious soul searching as your pentecostal sect is not better than the catholic church which you seek to discredit. The catholic church made their mistakes in the past and have made attempts to correct heir errors, but you pentecostal are just are pack of clowns. Go and read the epistles and the book of Acts well, is the christianity you practise in anyway similar to the standards set by the apostles? It is an undisputable fact that the catholic church cannonized the bible and most western churches[including the one you attend] roots are traceable back to the catholic church. I know you have a penchant for twisting facts when it does not fit with your hallucinations, that is certainly not a hallmark of a true christian.

Mind u the books you find in the bible were not the only scriptures that existed,we had books even mentioned in the bible that are now lost, like books of jashar, nathan, iddo,e.tc mentioned in joshua, samuel, chronicles and kings

some other books like the book of enoch was quoted in the canonised scriptures even though it was not canonised.

even till now the source of the prophecy "he shall be called a nazarene" recorded in the book of mattew is till unknown.Even Jesus mentioned the murder of the prophet Zerchariah son of berechiah from a scripture now unkown.

God has in His providence preserved the 66 books of the Scriptures in what we have in the Holy Bible. Matthew 2:23 that you quoted said that as it was "spoken," not written by the prophets, for no prophet recorded this statement until Matthew by divine inspiration did. Matthew's mention of the city of Nazareth combined the concepts of lowliness and the wordplay on a messianic title. The Hebrew word netzer means a branch, sprout or shoot was related to the messianic title in Isaiah 11:1.

Likewise, not all Jewish religious literature was considered part of the list of inspired books. For example, the book of Jasher existed (Jos.10:13) as did the book of the Wars of the Lord (Num.21:14) and others (1Kings 11:41). These books did not survive the centuries, so we don't know their contents but what is important is that God has preserved by His holy prophets and apostles His inspired words for our learning of the historical facts that will work towards our salvation and perfection in righteousness. If you are serious about your claims give us the chapter and verse where Jesus and His Apostles quoted from this so called apocryphal books.

is it not amazing thhat the same God who preservrd the scriptures could not prerserve the apostolic church as u are implying? If I may ask who is more important the scripture or the church for whom it was made for ?

The Roman and orthodox catholic churches existed centuries before protestants how come there are now the ones adding to the scriptures they have beeen using long before the inception of protestantism.

It is now becoming increasingly clear that the Old Testament scripture was extremely fluid until its canonization around 100 AD

THE DECEPTIVE MIRACLE-WORKING FALSE PROPHET
Revelation 13:11-18

As the tyranny and oppression of political power will reach their climax in the great Tribulation, so will the deception and persecution of false religion. The Antichrist will be the political leader while the false prophet will be the religious leader. Revelation 13:1-10 reveals the rise of the first beast, the Antichrist, out of the sea, that is, out of the raging, tumultuous sea of chaotic humanity. This great final tyrant, the Antichrist, will rise to rule over the whole world with the authority and power of the dragon, the Devil. The second beast comes up out of the earth and he is identified as the false prophet (Revelation 16:13; 19:20; 20:10). The dragon, the first beast and the second beast, that is, Satan, the Antichrist and the False Prophet will work closely together during the great Tribulation. This unholy trio will try to counterfeit the Holy Trinity. The Dragon is Anti-God (Revelation 12:3,4,9), the first beast is Anti-Christ, the son of perdition (Revelation 13:4-7; 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4) and the second beast is Anti-Spirit (Revelation 13:11-15). Satan is the master counterfeiter — with a grand purpose and plan to deceive all men. The main function of the Holy Spirit is to direct praise to the person of Christ. The False Prophet’s major function is to direct the worship of the people to the Antichrist, who is the second person in the unholy trio.

1. THE DESCRIPTION AND PORTRAIT OF THE FALSE PROPHET
Revelation 13:11,12; Matthew 7:15; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15; Revelation 16:13,14; Daniel 8:3,4; Matthew 24:21-26; 1 John 2:18; 4:1.

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth.” Personal attributes are ascribed to the Beast — speaking, exercising power, influencing people, doing great wonders before people, and deceiving them that dwell on the earth. And he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.” Looking like a lamb, he has the voice of a dragon. To deceive the world, he puts on the pleasing personality and calmness of a lamb, but in reality, has the nature and wickedness of Satan, the dragon. The False Prophet, like all false prophets before him, will be a great deceiver. He looks like a lamb. There will be a gentleness about him, a softness about him that is deceiving. Let us take note that he has two horns but the real Lamb of God is revealed as having seven horns — the fulness of the power of the Almighty (Revelation 5:6). The lamb-like false prophet is an imitation, a counterfeit, a deceiver. He imitates all of the things that are of the Lord “[color=#000099]and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do[/color]” (Revelation 13:14). His lying wonders are used to force those who dwell on earth to worship the Antichrist (Revelation 13:12). All who are influenced by those miracles of the False Prophet are doomed and will be damned and sent to the lake of fire forever (Revelation 14:9-11; 19:20; 20:10).

2. DECEPTION THROUGH THE POWER OF THE FALSE PROPHET
Revelation 13:13-15; 16:13,14; Matthew 24:24; 7:15-23;
2 Thessalonians 2:9-12; Revelation 11:3-5; 16:1,2; 19:20; 20:10.

This end-time false prophet with a composite lamb-dragon appearance and nature had power. He exerciseth all the power of the first beast.” He had power to give life unto the image of the beast.”He had power to do miracles in the sight of the beast.” He doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” The purpose of his miracles is not to deliver men from present and eternal suffering but to deceive them that dwell on the earth and cause the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast.” The source of the power of the False Prophet is the dragon, the Devil. The purpose of his performing miracles is to make men irredeemable slaves, servants, worshippers of Satan and thereby make them suffer eternal punishment with Satan in hell-fire for ever.

The events of the thirteenth chapter of Revelation will take place at the mid-point of the seven years of the Tribulation. The events will not take place suddenly. There will be a gradual build-up for these events to transpire after the church is raptured and the Tribulation begins. Prophetic events cast their shadows before them. The False Prophet in Revelation chapter thirteen is the epitome of all the false prophets who have gone before him. Today, we need to be warned against false prophets who come with the personality and calmness of a lamb, but who speak and operate in the power of Satan. Beware, be not deceived.

3. THE DEMAND AND PERSECUTION BY THE FALSE PROPHET
Revelation 13:16-18; 14:9-13; 20:11-15; 15:2; 20:4; Proverbs 22:3; Hosea 14:9; Deuteronomy 32:29; Romans 8:17,18; Matthew 24:13.

And he causeth ALL, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

We are near the end of time and the stage is set for the Antichrist and his False Prophet. It is now possible to buy food and an assortment of other things without money, cheques or charge cards. Planting a chip in the hand or on the forehead, that is, giving a mark of identification in the right hand or in the forehead in order to buy or sell, is now possible. The vast possibilities in this age of information technology prepare the stage for the events of Revelation chapter thirteen.

The mark of the Beast indicates that the one wearing it is a worshipper of the Beast and that he submits to his rule. To be without the mark is to be labelled a traitor. The people who do not have the mark will be killed or starved to death because they will not be able to get the food and other things they need to stay alive. The people who do not have the mark of the Beast will suffer temporarily, but the people who get the mark of the Beast will also suffer — suffer eternally in the lake of fire (Revelation 13:15-17; 14:9-11). The number of the Beast is 666. The only sure way of escape is to be genuinely saved and live for Christ and endure till the end.

Nice post ,every one shold come out of the beast, the are several kinds of beast like tithing, prosperity preaching, commercialization of christianity .

These are the greateset evil bedeviling the church today, every one should strive to come out of her.

Mind you if not for the catholics these book you quoted would not have made it into the bible,in fact it almost didn't make it.

even after it made it people like Martin luther fought to ensure it was removed fro the bible but failed woefully

Initially Luther had a low view of the books of Esther, Hebrews, James, Jude, and Revelation. He called the Epistle of James "an epistle of straw," finding little in it that pointed to Christ and His saving work. He also had harsh words for the book of Revelation, saying that he could "in no way detect that the Holy Spirit produced

Matthew 24: 10
And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. 11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

The prophesy above is being fullied today even here on nairaland. There is hatred today even amongst so called christians who would rather follow the teachings of their pastors than the true word of God. Love has gone cold in christianity and it is a selfish version being preached today on like the selfless version christ preached. As it has been highlighed above many people are evidently being successfully decieved by false prophets even on this forum.

Matthew 24:23 “Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. 25 See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.

Even the very elect[chosen ones] are in danger of being deceived yet several clowns on this forum think they cannot be deceived. Verse 25 says christ as warned us ahead of time but how many of us heed this warning All these false prophets preach what christ and the apostles NEVER preached and they twist outdated old testament doctrines such as tithes, first fruit and seed sowing and other heretic doctrines to scam their congrgation. Anyone who genuinely wants to follow christ must as matter of compulsion read through all the gospel and make christ's teachings the centre of his christian life. when you begin to do this you would come to the knowledge of truth of what true christianity is.

Re: How The Bible Teaches Us To Recognize False Prophets by nuclearboy(m): 2:14pm On Dec 20, 2009
I've matured in Christianity and learnt Satan started his fight against Christitanity long ago. 1st there was the desire to kill them off through the Romans. When this was ineffective, he started a multi-pronged attack bringing all sorts of doctrines and even creating alternative religions which recognized Christ yet denied Him.

Then we saw Christianity divided into so many groups and having so many revisions it became difficult to find what was true and what wasn't. Now we have the prosperity movement adding to the overall confusion. What I asked was really not a question but rather a desire that you take these issues one after the other and try to show how time, satan, greed has added and subtracted to christianity thereby bringing it to the situation we have today. Then it'd be nice to take the issues that bother most Christians one by one and provide the Biblical perspective.

Fortunately I don't have to wait till the last day like you as I already have the holy spirit within me who tells me in very clear terms I am doing his will.

Did the "holy spirit" within you convince you that Jesus Christ is not God?

Jesus christ is the son of God almighty and that makes him a God.

I would not engage you in the trinity debate as I have made it clear to you that I don't subscribe to the man made trinity doctrine. The bible makes it crystal clear that Jesus is a separate entity from God his father even though they are of the same essence and singularity of purpose.
