As we earlier told you on this blog, minister of state for Petroleum Ibe Kachikwu and governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State met some militants (who they claim to be representatives of Niger Delta Avengers militant sect) at the Delta State Government House on Wednesday 15th May. 2016. The objective of the meeting was to curb the rampant pipeline bombings happening in the Niger Delta.

The next day, the Niger Delta Avengers claimed it has destroyed an NNPC oil pipeline in Akwa Ibom. Now, the group is distancing itself from the "militants" who Kachikwu and Okowa met on Wednesday.

According to reliable sources, governor Okowa gave the militants who came in nothing less than 10 commercial buses the sum of N10m for "transport fare" while Kachikwu contributed N5m.
