Presidency may retain him, to reshuffle Service Chiefs

If information gathered by the Nigerian Pilot is anything to go by, no Deputy Inspectors General of Police, DIGs may succeed the outgoing Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, who is supposed to retire tomorrow having attained the statutory age of 35 years in service on June 21.

However, there are strong indications that the presidency may not let him go due to circumstance surrounding the federal character principles.

Nigerian Pilot gathered authoritatively that President Muhammadu Buhari may delay Arase’s retirement to enable him reorganise the security leadership of the country to balance the imbalance in the zoning arrangement in the country.

Did you guys notice the heading...No DIG may succeed the Police IG. Same thing happened with Customs. This is always the case whenever someone from the South is next line. Don't be surprised if they go and bring in another retired military officer to succeed him like was done in the customs. What happened in the customs remains one of the greatest insult to then 5 Deputy Comptrollers of Customs. How the South could let that happened still baffles me.

The only DIG from the SS is an Igbo woman and she is due for retirement by December. Not a Good Choice

No Igbo man from the SE is currently a AIG in the police. That's the delima PMB is facing in trying to balance the federal character. Most Igbo police normally retire early to import containers or opt into politics after securing the needed contacts and connections. Remember Frank Uba the former FPPRO once said the igbos are the architect of their misfortunes in the security agencies as they normally retire early to pursue business

The more we think alonk ethnic lines, the more divided we become
The more divided we become, the more progress departs from us
The more we lack progress, the more we remain the same

And the vicioous cycle will continue again and again and again and ...
