– Aboy Francis Muturu, an former militant leader has been arrested
– He was arrested last Friday at his residence in Bomadi Town of Delta state
– His lawyer, Omes Ogedegbe has threatened legal action against the army if they fail to release in the next 48 hours
Aboy Francis Muturu, an ex-militant leader, has been arrested by soldiers suspected to be from the 4th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Benin, the Edo state capital.
General Aboy as he is fondly called was reportedly arrested in the presence of his breastfeeding wife in the early hours of Friday last week, at his residence in Bomadi Town of Delta state, The Punch reports.
His wife, Beauty Aboy Muturu, confirmed the arrest.

The former militant leader was whisked to an unknown destination and has been kept incommunicado from family members.
He was said to have been among those who voluntarily embraced the amnesty programme initiated by the late President Musa Yar’Adua
Following his arrest, Omes Ogedegbe, a prominent Warri lawyer and National coordinator of Conference for the actualisation of Human Right, has threatened threatened legal action against the Nigerian Army.
In a letter to the Army Chief of Staff, Ogedegbe described the arrest as provocative and illegal.
He said: “ That upon the embrace of the amnesty programme, our client has long denounced militancy as he is currently the managing director of Vicmut Hotels Limited located in Bomadi main town with a laudable staff strength.
“That since the abduction of ex-militant General Aboy Francis Muturu on the 7th of June, 2016, the whereabouts of ex-General Aboy Francis Muturu has remained unknown neither has the family any clue as to his whereabouts save for the fact that Capt. Robert of the 222 battalion was part of the team .”

Ogedegbe who claimed to be lawyer to the former militant said if the army fails to release him within the next 48 hours counting from Monday, he would institute a legal action to enforce the fundamental human rights of the former warlord.
Capt. Jonah Unuakhalu, the assistant director of the public relations unit of the 4 Brigade Benin, denied knowledge of the incident when contacted.
The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has been battling with the resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta region. The Niger Delta Avengers has claimed responsibility for series of bombing of oil and gas pipelines in the region and has vowed to continue to do so until zero oil is produced in the region.
The minister of state for petroleum Ibe Kachikwu is currently battling to get the militants dialogue with the federal government and dissuade them from carrying further attacks on oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta region.
Meanwhile, the Niger Delta Patriotic Front (NDPF) has accused Government Ekpemupolo popularly known as Tompolo of being the main sponsor of the militants.

I wonder which path this govt toes. Minister trying to dialogue, military arresting and killing, president searching for arms, and politicians condemning while rights activists mock govt.

Which way Nigeria?

When the gods want to destroy someone, the first make him mad.
With all this excessive use of power the FG are applying, we can now see that they are mad pending their final destruction.
An African adage says that the death that will kill a Dog won't allow it to perceive feces. And My father usually say that it is when a fly land on ur scrutum sag, then you will know that violent is not the only way to resolve issues.

Dear president buhari, use your tongue and count your teeth.

Lol.. Which intel does nigeria military have? Don't mistaken nigeria army to cia or mossad. Nigeria army has been politicized. A top politician is always behind 90% of their arrest/decision.

The fact that the wannabe General was pinpointed, apprehended, and whisked away in stealth clearly indicate an intelligence-based operation.

Loving the carrot and stick approach adopted by the FG.

While you maybe right, it is still an assumption/generalization.
