8. Both are wrong. The sense in which the word 'baggage' is used here makes it unquantifiable. And as with unquantifiable nouns, you dont use 'many', you use 'much'.

Exactly what I was going to say about number 8.

As with someone who said 'historian' can be 'a' or 'an', not so. It depends on the sound that follows. Not the spelling.

A unique person, because the sound is of 'y'.
An hour, because the 'h' is silent.
A historian. The 'h' is pronounced.

Both options in 7 are correct depending on the amount of information she now has. We can use A if she now knows of his financial situation. We can use B if she still doesn't know about his financial situation at the time when the statement was made.

10. This would definitely pass as A but the consonant 'H' in the English alphabet is the only consonant that is allowed to carry both the 'A' and the 'AN', just like the vowel 'U' can sometimes carry or tag along with the article 'A'. EG, He has A UNIQUE point of view.

I kinda agree with all but the numbers 3 and 10

3. Before, the simple past and past participle of 'broadcast' simply used to be 'broadcast'. But recently, some literature now prefer to use 'broadcasted'. However, the two are still very much acceptable.

10. The H is a consonant that could either be voiced as in 'Hospital' or silent as in 'Hour'. The article of choice between 'a' and 'an' depends on whether the 'H' is voiced or silent.

So when voiced we use 'a' = e.g... a hospital, a house, etc.
And when silent, we use 'an' = e.g... an hour, an honest man, etc.

This however obviously depends on the knowledge of the words with the voiced 'H' and those with the silent 'H'. Some cultures, both in Nigeria and outside have what we call the 'H' factor- in which they put an 'H' where there's not meant to be and remove it from where there's supposed to be. These people might particularly have a problem picking the article to use.

NB- I said 'an H' and not 'a H' because H in itself, in the phonemic transcription, does not start with an 'h'. I hope I sha made small sense... Lol

H = /'eItʃ/ (I couldn't write the 'ei' diphthong well. Please manage)

As for the example used by the person I quoted, 'unique', just like 'university', carries the 'a' article because though 'u' is a vowel, the transcription begins with a consonant 'j'. So it's only appropriate to say 'a unique idea from a university's staff union'

countable and uncountable nouns, you cannot count baggage, so it should be much

you can say many items of baggage or many baggage items but you can't say many baggage or many baggages because baggage by definition is uncountable. Baggage has no plural so you cannot talk about many.

The questions are simple buh technical.

They dont give leave for ur question 1...they grant leave

question 2...both options are correct just that was is mostly used by britians and were by americans....or vice versa buh whichever way u're right buh we choose to go with were cos we were colonised by britians

question 3..most people use broadcasted buh the first option too isnt right cos broadcast isnt a verb so it should be''there was a broadcast concerning President Buhari's arrival .

4 is straightforward..you dont talk together...more lyk a tautology and affairs aint meant to be private.
Option B

5..you cant fall down cos fall itself means coming down...also a tautology...so he fell from the top..option B

6)its either subject of discourse or matter of discuss or subject matter without discourse

7)both seems correct cos according to rule of concord,past subject,past verb buh option B seems more correct cos ''had i known'' most tyms comes along with regrets.
