@Seguntijan
The Builder is the best choice for Construction Management while the choice of Project Manager is hinged on the experience and competence of any of the professional picked not his discipline. A good project manager can be any professional who has either taken Master's course in Project Management irrespective of his/her specialisation in his/her first degree.

Peace

Exactly my point sir

I get sir, I was only against the point that the Architect is the chief consultant, I was just trying to explain that there's no superiority in the built environment professions.

Thanks for the clarification. But I don't still think it is the town planners that come down to site to set out.

I've worked in 1,2,3, .... 10+ sites. And surveyors are always the one setting out.

I stand to be corrected, though.
that's why I never mentioned setting out, I only said site plan. setting out is sorely the responsibility of the land surveyor

Very well sir. We do.
I'm not a Q/s. I'm an Architect who just feels its imperative to protect all Professional practice.
God bless U sir.

God bless you too, sir.

The world is moving to open-source knowledge. I will forgive your mild insults, sir.

The global wave now is a we-practice, no more me-practice. Let the public know. But even as much as they know, they can't ignore the services of someone trained. I beg to differ that I, as a builder of a five storey complex, will rely on my knowledge of basic estimating, basic in bold, and not employ the services of a specialist.

When Google made Android open source, hackers didn't take over. The world is better when we are all informed.
You are a good man.

if Laterite filling is 200mm directly below the ground level, does that mean average depth of topsoil excavation to be 200mm as well or it would still be taken as the Average depth of 150mm.

You ought to know your excavation depth first before you determine what volume to fill.

This is a nice write up however there's a huge gap (in some areas) which is far from reality.
Backfilling from your post is not what is experienced on the field. A lay man will at the end of the day use your post and the architectural drawing ( which at most times the architect don't visit the site to know the terrain, level or otherwise at the site) then juxtapose the cost of "actual filling" needed to complete the job while forgetting that there are procedures to back filling itself.
It will be noteworthy to clearly state that your piece does not reflect what happens on site (most drawings are done by architect; who rarely visit the site and the structural drawings are much straight to point).
