Gravity exists in matter, that is anything that has MASS, which includes earth, the moon, the sun and even YOU! If you kinda like…like somebody, and they stand 3 quaters of a millimetre away from you (0.00075meters), the atoms in your body and theirs will pull you two together at exactly the same gravitational force that the sun is exerting on you now. But of course you don’t feel the impact of the gravitational pull between you and someone you’re hugging or between the sun and yourself (which is 93million miles away) cause compared to the earth’s gravitational pull, they are….nothing or just negligible. Almost as if the sun doesn’t even exist…wait, so what if the sun DISAPPEARED!

Of course the sun cant just disappear ,it will die billions of years later, matter and energy don’t just vanish, so the sun cant disappear, but what if it did…lets just discuss it to see how the earth will get along, ON IT’S OWN…ALONE!

1) FLUNG AWAY…: Well, at the exact moment the sun disappeared, we would have no idea cause it takes light from the sun 8minutes and 20seconds to get to the earth. So for about 9minutes, everything would be fine, but after that, i guess confusion and mass panic, the sun’s gravitational pull on the earth would also cease after about 9minutes cause gravitational waves move at the speed of light. So the moment we see the sun disappear, earth would also lose its gravitational pull and earth would fly out of its orbit in a straight line, tangential to where it was in its orbit.


2) DARKNESS: Earth would be in darkness (without the sun and moon), BUT… not total darkness, in 2004, Abdul Ahad calculated that our galaxy reflected light to us ,about 1/300th of the light of the moon, thats why we can still see a little on a “moonless night”. Electricity would still be usable, so cities would still be lit by man made light, just like it is at night, except…, everyday would now be like night.

3) PHOTOSYNTHESIS: without the sun plants would not be able to inhale carbondioxide and exhale our much needed OXYGEN! But not to worry, humans alone use about 6trillion (6,000,000,000,000) kilograms of oxygen every year, but our atmosphere contains a whooping QUINTILLION (1,000,000,000,000,000,000) KILOGRAMS OF OXYGEN every year! So it would actually take us thousands of years to run out of oxygen. But the poor plants themselves wouldn’t make it as some would die within days or weeks, except for the really big trees which store enough sugar in their sap that can provide them energy for years, their problem would be that the earth would get quite…

4) COLD: …so those trees would freeze to death. With the sun, the average temperature of earth is about 15 degrees celcius, so without the sun, in a week, the surface of the earth would be a freezing 0 degrees celcius. Humans could get by, but at the end of the first year the earth would be -75 degrees celcius, and the only safe places for us would be thermal chill areas like, Iceland. The earth’s produces its own heat from its core though at a whooping 5000 DEGREES CELCIUS. So anyone who fails to secure a place underground in safe havens would be dead within the first year.The oceans would be covered with ice, but ice is less dense than water so ice floats, and ice is also a good insulator. So microbes who live on the ocean floor around hypothermal vents and produce energy not by photosynthesis, but chemosynthesis, would still live as normal, not even knowing that the sun is no more, well they currently live without any idea of the sun actually

5) 10-20 YEARS LATER: The earth would be covered with due not from water but from air that has been condensed due to the cold and it would later precipitate, first as rain and as it gets colder, as snow. So we might need to heat the “air snow” indoors so we can enjoy normal air.

It’s amazing to think that life would still go on without the sun, earth would be travelling in space at about 30km/second and at that speed in a billion years, we would have covered 900,000,000,000,000,000km (900 quadrillion kilometers), or 100,000light years. That would take us across our galaxy, so we might actually travel past another solar system and the earth could probably attach itself to another sun and orbit round it, thaw out and the surviving humans could start life all over again. no, atleast not yet, if you dig 1km from the ocean floor, youré only 0.1% away from the core.
the deepest man has dug is a 9.1km borehole in Germany, part of the Continental Deep Drilling Project (KTB), but deeper still is the 12.25km "Superdeep" hole in the Kola Peninsula near the Arctic Circle in Russia, drilled between 1977 and 1989. The latter is roughly 0.4% of the distance (2,900km) to the core of the earth.

If the sun loses its energy and dies off, it is not only the earth that would suffer. Other planetary body too will skid off from orbit and fly in tangential to their place in orbit just like the earth because they are kept in orbit by the gravitational pull of the sun.

Case 1

Let's take it from the earth.

If the earth slows down its rotational speed, then atmospheric pressure drops and then you'll explode because you blood pressure would be greater than external atm pressure. Then will start moving around in space suit, no bikini, no sagging, no swimming pool for me and we'll be buying oxygen...not good.


Case 2.

Let's move to moon.

If the moon fell, then you'll know that tsunami is but a child's play. This time it would be the repeat of what happened during Noah's time. Yes the earth would be flooded. This will also affect earth's rotational speed and hence the effects of case 1
So we'll have to wear space suits on water or paddling canoes to watch champions league.

Case 3.

Yes the sun dies case.

Here, when the sun decides to travel, gravitational field would vamoose, therefore we'll have the combined effects of cases 1 and 2, plus darkness. Well darkness may not so affect Nigerians sha o.

Then the solar system would collapse, and the planets would find their way like Brexit. God blesses the earth and its captured by another star, or curses it and it's captured by a blackhole. Bros, e nor go good o.

The nine planets (8 actually, Pluto is no longer considered a planet) are in our 'SOLAR SYSTEM' , and there are billions of solar systems each with their planets in our galaxy alone (not to talk of billions of other galaxies).

I strongly believe that humans aren't the only life form in the Galaxy.
There are other living things but they most likely have vastly different biological and mental compositions than humans and that's probably why we are finding it difficult to know them.

Who knows, maybe we are just another insignificant life form to them. Maybe the way we see microorganisms is the way they see humans. They could be that advanced and evolved.
It's all theoretical though, I am not sure of any of this.
