Veteran Nollywood actor, Emeke Ike, has accused the director general of the National Film and Videos Censors Board, NFVCB, Emeka Mba, of destroying the Nigerian movie industry. Ike recounted how Mba allegedly used and dumped movie marketers whom he deceived into believing he had good intentions for the industry. In a chat with Television Continental, TVC, the president, Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN said, “I was invited by some TV stations to be a content provider but I turned them down. I told them I will not be like Emeka Mba (Yes, I can boldly call his name). “He messed up this industry. “You go to buy movies, lie to marketers and producers, telling them something fantastic is coming up. Then, these poor and naive producers felt you were going to be of help. “Meanwhile, you collected all our contents for African Magic, and then you became our DG and started arresting these same marketers and locking them in Kuje prison. “For what? Pay N5m else I will shut you down and then you started closing the industry. As if that was not enough, you empowered South Africans to own our product. “Today Nollywood belongs to Africa Magic and not to Nigerians. The Nollywood you know is Africa Magic right now. That is the address and that is what they want and that is why they will fight me to make sure these things are not revealed. “We are about N200m people in the country. Before now, every home watches Nollywood movies but that does not exist anymore. Everybody now wants to buy DSTV cable. “Emeka Mba spoilt Nollywood. To whom much is given, much is expected,” Ike blasted. “You are making well over N500bn from Nigeria and artists are dying and you are playing it out,” he said, recalling the death of ace producer, OJB Jezreel. Yet you keep making new artists and say there is a new Nollywood going on yet people cannot see in between the line. “Please let’s beg these South Africans to do business in Nigeria or pack out. We will go on the streets very soon to request that because they have pushed it too far. “When I talk, they will say Emeke Ike likes trouble, he is just a trouble maker. What is trouble making about doing the right thing? “Very soon, they are going to feel my hit. I am a patriotic Nigerian and I make sure whatever I say is for Nigeria and not to destroy Nigeria,” he added.
