Reps Adopt Gej's 2014 Confab Report by iflywithbuhari(f): 6:12pm On Jun 30, 2016
The Ad hoc Committee on the review of the constitution at the House of Representatives has adopted the report of the 2014 National Conference organized by ex- President Goodluck Jonathan. The confab report recommended 54 states, modified presidential system of government, state police as well as a revenue sharing formula whereby Federal Government gets 42.5 percent, states receive 35 percent and local governments earn 22.5 per cent among others. The Chairman of the Committee, Yusuf Lasun, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the House, said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary Wole Oladimeji, that the report would form part of the working documents of the Committee. The statement reads: “The decision to adopt the report of the National Conference was taken at a working session/retreat of the committee recently held at Transcorp Hilton hotel, Abuja “The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the committee who doubled as the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Sulaimon Lasun Yusuf. “Copies of the report have been circulated to members of the committee to go through and come up with recommendations to the committee while the consultants to the committee have been given the report to advise the committee on how to go about it. Some of the salient proposals in the report would be turned into draft bills which would be presented to the house for adoption and passage. “The committee would commence work on the review immediately the House resumes from its Sallah break.”

That's the way to go about it
The president doesn't have any right it power to implement the confab report.. . Only the national assembly has such power
Hope we actually want this implemented... I have gone through that report and it did address any real issue... Expect increasing of the 13% derivation to 18%.. . That's it the rest is rubbish
.. The we need more states?? That's more commissioners... That's more SSA... That's more senators that's more reps... That's more PA... That's more dormant civil servant.. .
.. Do we need state police...?? Imagine fayose with a state police? ?

That confab was a waste of time

Now people will see what they want implemented

Sharrap and stop wailing! You will only see what you want to see in the report. Let them implement it and let us watch the heavens fall; afterall, the country can't get any worse than it is now under your Messiah. Can it
It can also be modified and tweaked hope you know that. They are "RECOMMENDATIONS" not laws.

Anything that will drive out regional parasitism is very much welcome. Let everybody control their resources and watch Nigeria bounce back on her Feet.

Then let's hope it's tweaked! Because this country is headed no where until we do that. BTW sorry for telling you to 'sharrap' I just believe there's sense in every nonsense and it pains me what the country has become. So the report might be a step in the right direction.

Try federalism won't even work... As long as we don't hold our leaders responsible for their job... we won't have any serious development
